It is exremely difficult to find SKATEPARKS for the kids. They are named wierd things besides 'Skatepark' and are often hidden in local parks or warehouses and not noted separately.
Need to be divided up by states or regions.
Found a list for SoCal and Utah, but nothing for NorCal (where I am) or any other states.
My son loads a bunch of kids in the car and usually ends up rollerblading down the handicap rails at the local office parks. They are always looking for new ramps and rails. I would rather they go to a REAL skatepark so they don't get arrested for damage to property or trespassing!

Data
There is another site that has the subway files separated as east and west of the Mississippi... but it hasn't been updated in a while. It's the only POI file I have that didn't come from here.
Hoping someone will take up the Subway POI effort here, I need to stay away from burgers for lunch!
The Subway website is NOT a very useful site to help in the creation of the POI file.
I have fired off an email to subway asking if they have a listing of all this locations in a machine readable format to start on this. IN the request, I explained why I wanted the list and how it could help them as well.
So far, it has been almost a week and still only an automated response. Hopefully they will at the very least acknowledge the request.
If I can ever get something from them, I will try to get something started.
Dom
I have also requested similar information from several other companies and have either received only a canned autoreply or a message directing me to their website. I would think that the larger companies would be all over this. What a missed marketing opportunity. I think that businesses need to get into the practice of providing their coordinates as part of the contact information.

I have tried a couple of companies and all I ever received was a perfunctory no-reply email that they had received my email. Even called them. My oppinion is that their locations are sold to NavTec and others. If they can get paid for that information, why should they give it to you for free. Be careful if you try to garner their locations from their web sites. They might cut you off. Been there, done that.

I know it can be very frustrating. Some companies are good... others, not so much.
Toyota USA was excellent and provided me with a full text listing when I requested it. Bojangles was another VERY good one. They supplied me with much more info that I requested, and send me a surprise something in the mail.
Some simply pointed me to their "useless" website. Had their website not been so "useless", I would not have asked for the information.
At this point I have only received a canned "we received your request" email and nothing else. Guess I am not going to hold my breath. I am not even sure I want to visit their locations any more. If they don't care about us, why should we care about them. If they ever wake up and decide to send me the information, I will work on creating a set of CSV and GPX files.

Did something happen to the Dunkin Donuts POI file?
I'm pretty sure that an earlier version of the Dunkin Donut file had locations in Ohio listed. I just came back from an 850 mile round trip throughout Ohio and the POI file didn't have a single Ohio one listed. Did something happen in the latest translation?

It also provided evidence that I'm not crazy--on that subject at least. Thankfully, the pre-loaded POI file was current enough for me to use, although a while back I recall reading that DD was planning on opening another 1,500 or so more stores in the near future, so this POI file will be like gold to me.
Everyone has their favorites, but for me, starting a day without a DD coffee is like a day without sunshine. Thanks again!

What Poi`s
I like you to do what poi`s you or other people like that`s fine, but what is more interesting is to make them as accurate as possible.
I know that you do a good job with the proper locations, I only ask is if some one put poi`s to check and zoom as far you can for the best accuracy.
Thank you on behalf of us who are computer challenged to all of you that put together the lists of poi`s and share with Us!!!!
Thankssss!!!
Gps! ask where to go and get there! Best of all, what we need is to have accurate pois to reach all destinations

What I have
in my POI folder are as listed below. These are for food joints. Am working on others as time permits.
Most of the lists are created by trawling through www.localsearch.com manually and then editing the text files using a text editor (Notepad++, freeware) and MS Excel. I have tried to be thorough and have attempted to make sure every entry has a physical street address to ensure accuracy. Most of those which I have not been able to verify physical addresses to have been removed so that I do not have to drive around searching for a particular place.
The .csv files are formatted for my Garmin nüvi 680 which accepts a and not a . Each entry has Long, Lat, "Name of Rest: City", "Street City_State_Zip Phone".
Not all entries have Zip codes due to inconsistencies in source material or plain laziness on my part. I have used the "_" (underscore) character between City, State and Zip so that should anyone wish to edit, it is easier to do a search and replace on that than on a 'comma' or a 'space'.
I also have the "raw" .csv files which are straight comma separated text and can be formatted or transformed to other GPSr models and/or units if so desired.
The .bmp icons are max 16 pixels wide or tall or 16x16 so that they are not too big when viewed on the GPS display.
Drop me a line if you would like to get one or more of these files. Am willing to contribute the files to anyone who wishes to use them as a basis to start new POI project(s).

Ever since the filename was changed to DD-US from the older Dunkin Donut, it seems not to have as many locations in it. I certainly appreciate the work it takes to create and maintain a POI, because I never could do it, but I just wanted to check again to see if everything is in the file now. Thanks!

I don't believe that answers his question. The national park service POI files are GPX files, which don't work on TomTom.
Steve - There is a tool on GPS Visualizer at http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/ that according to the site will convert the GPX files that you find by doing the search as indicated by skunkape to the OV2 file that will work on a TomTom unit.
I have a Garmin, so I can't confirm that this utility works, but it is supposed to do the conversion for you.

Rental Car Returns
A poi for rental car return locations would be great for travelers. This is especially handy for rental locations that are near an airport but are not on site that you have to use a shuttle to get to. This would save valuable time not having to read signs and in most situations the return location is often different than the pick up area.
Setting the location on pick up gets you close but it would be nice to be exact.
