O'Reilly Auto Parts POI File

I was looking at the O'Reilly Auto Parts POI file and it appears that there is suppose to be a combined POI file for all the U.S., but I did not see it. Also, it looks like a lot of the individual states are missing. I looked at the O'Reilly Auto Parts web site and it looks like they have stores in close to 31 states. Does anyone have a POI file for all the U.S. stores or would be interested in updating the files? Thanks.

O'Reilly Auto Parts POI File

I think O'Reilly also took over Checker Auto, here in Utah they have about names on then. So who ever made the two files may want to look at combining them into one and also may find dups on some.

McDonalds USA restaurants having indoor playlands

Families with kids typically look for only those McDonalds that have indoor playlands. The McDonalds' website does sort its restaurants by those having playlands and those that do not, but the do not break them down to those McDonalds USA restaurants having indoor playlands. Indoor playlands are important since it often is too hot or too wet for kids to use outdoor McDonalds playlands.

If you can

figure out how to get that data, I will look into adding this to the file

"Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names Online Hoerachy Display."

What efforts have there been to POI the "Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names Online Hoerachy Display." The have a list of every geographical feature in the USA and perhaps the world and include the geo coordinates. For example, from the below link,

http://www.getty.edu/vow/TGNHierarchy?find=van+nuys&place=&n...

you can create a POI of all the "Peaks of Los Angeles county", "Creaks of Los Angeles County" etc. This could be done for each state, county, city, etc.

"Creaks of Los Angeles County"?

Wouldn't that keep changing depending on the weather? I know I have different joints creak depending on the weather.

Protected ruins of the original Americans

There's Mesa Verde and several National Monuments, but I haven't found a list of all the smaller places. New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado have quite a few that I recall, but I'm sure there are lots. I specifically remember some near Sedona and just north of Flagstaff. If someone hasn't started a POI, I could be talked into taking a stab at it after I get back from vacation.

Most projects would be very short lived, to much work for nothing I would think. Major work projects would work okay but are limited.

This one is a toss up.. I don't think I would even load this one, because of the errors I'm sure it world have on a regular basis.

I would like to see the rest stops added for B.C. Canada.

School Zones POI

I've only had my 265wt for a few days and trying to figure out all the the tech stuff on the POI's - I can't. I just need to hand my unit over to someone that knows how to load these things LOL

I have been looking for POI's with voice warnings for School Zones in NC, SC, AL, GA mostly - but will take the whole US if not broken out. I almost found myself ticketed today - lucky me the car in front of me was going faster than I, they pulled him infront of school and the zone lights were not even flashing.

Any help for this nubie is appreciated!

I wonder if ...

Since it is the Traval Season, And I enjoy searching for great places to go on vacation, i am wondering whaer You are planing to go this summer, Maybe I will start doing a travil guide ( like I did for Lancaster) and make a poi for the beat hotels, places to eat, attractances, etc.

Let me know, I want to start some kind of searies of places to vist. I will act like 100 peaple are going on this trip and want to go everywhare. what do you think? Maybe I can help you in your next trip!

76 gas stations

Now owned by ConocoPhillips I would like to see a 76 Gas station POI.

It will not be quick, but

I am working on all types of gas/diesel, er, uh fuel? stations. I have taken all of the fuel files off of POI Factory and combined them with identification. When I look one up, there is usually one or more on the opposite corners. I am slowly insuring their presence in the file or adding them to be uploaded to whom ever the file maintainer is. Finding other interesting POI's along the way. Gotta get back to work now.

Bye

Live Steam model railroads

Here's one I bet you never thought of.
FWIW, this is my home club:

I found a link to all those in the US.

I would break this into two POIs
One with 5" gauge and below are garden railroads.
The second 7 1/4" and up actually haul folks.
You really don't go anywhere, but the trip is nice. wink

Subway, eat fresh!

There is another site that has the subway files separated as east and west of the Mississippi... but it hasn't been updated in a while. It's the only POI file I have that didn't come from here.

Hoping someone will take up the Subway POI effort here, I need to stay away from burgers for lunch! wink

The Subway website is NOT a very useful site to help in the creation of the POI file.

I have fired off an email to subway asking if they have a listing of all this locations in a machine readable format to start on this. IN the request, I explained why I wanted the list and how it could help them as well.

So far, it has been almost a week and still only an automated response. Hopefully they will at the very least acknowledge the request.

If I can ever get something from them, I will try to get something started.

One in Pigeon Forge, TN. Probably will be others. Possibly should be monitored and a file created for it or maybe it should be included with wild and weird things. A google search will turn up lots of information. I don't do those things, but thought others might be interested.
