Microsoft drops safe removal

Maybe others know about this but I just ran ran across this today.Microsoft drops safe removal of USB drives as the default option for Windows 10 1809. See https://betanews.com/2019/04/07/windows-10-safely-remove-usb... for info. I noticed this when removing my GPS from the computer.

Memorial Day

All gave some; some gave all. Let's remember our comrades in arms that made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us tomorrow on Memorial Day. I shall be remembering two of my classmates who gave their all in Vietnam; Ron Coates and Jerry Leak. Good guys and great friends. I came back, but they didn't. I shall always remember them. Rest in peace my friends.

Prevent a worm by updating Remote Desktop Services

I can't believe Microsoft's dedication to fix security holes on Windows XP. It's been out of support since 2012 (?) but they still released a patch for Windows XP.

Any POI factory users still running WinXP? If you are, get the patch.

R.I.P. Tim Conway

A truly unique and timeless talent. For those of us old enough to remember, that description fits all of the Carol Burnett show regulars, but Tim was something special. He will live on in the countless skits that will be replayed for generations. I can't help but smile every time I think about Tim saying "Eh Miss Wiggins" in that fake accent.

Favorite YouTube music videos

I tend to spend a fair amount of time listening to music on YouTube. Here's a very small sample of what I like and I thought it might be interesting to see what YouTube music other Factory-ites enjoy.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Remember and revere your Mother today.

has an internet order ever been wrong / contents not in order?

In about 17 years or so of ordering things online, there were only 4 times that orders were wrong. The latest two weeks ago.

The offenders?

amazon.com and costco.com

One time, a $60 amazon item never arrived. They sent another.

One time, an amazon package had the wrong item--item shipped $18, item ordered, $28. They sent correct item and took back shipped item.

Took my GPS for a drive around England

I just got back from England where I used by DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S in a rental car. Before going I added a Garmin City Navigator Europe/UK microSD card for the data. I located all the towns, attractions, and B&Bs I was going to stay in advance and Saved their locations.

This week we're recognizing, Mahoney!

Mahoney has been with POI Factory for over 12 years!

Honestly, I've lost track of the number of POI files Mahoney maintains.

Besides the one listed on his profile page he also updates several that remain under other member names (we keep them there for a few years just in case the members find time to start updating them again).
