Crazy that you may need some form of special tool to replace a license plate and that device can be used elsewhere in the vehicle.

Perhaps you can post on a new book you're reading, a new hobby you're taking up or about random finds as you finally get around to cleaning out the..., or your most recent adventure?

One would think that in life, there is no free lunch.

There usually is some sort of inverse relationship, or compromise.

For the sleuths out there, we are used to our Vantrue. No complaints, true 4K, older Starvis sensor, have a front/rear setup in my daily driver that is off the road right now.

Flash forward when our vehicle was destroyed in May 2025, another Vantrue was destroyed.

So this is not a new topic of course but it was an interesting read regarding newer technologies to combat the issue. Towards the end of the article were the suggested alternatives to the current design.

Not including smartphones or GPS enabled devices, I own 23 GPSr's, mostly Garmin. Many of them harken back to the days when I bought & sold on eBay.

I regularly use 8 newer devices for automotive, handheld & marine use, and update them once per year. A couple I keep for antique value, like the GPS II+ and GPS III units from the 1990's.

I just had an ad come up for "A Better Route Planner". It appears to be geared to EVs, but I would expect that it will work for any vehicle.

It is also geared to be used in conjunction with Apple Car Play or Android Auto.

Has anyone here tried it & if so, what are your thoughts?

Can you export files as csv or GPX, for installation on a Garmin, etc.?

This is a topic sure to get zero responses.

I put 8 snow tires on 2 cars last week. What a PITA and I even missed the 2nd half of the Eagles doing this at 23F.

But the way roads are so poorly cleared here in the Phila area, my effort paid off driving to work yesterday.

About 12 minutes on a not too speedy connection.

Today while waiting for my wife while I remained in the car the only local classical music station and the only local jazz station bored me. Both of them generally maintain my interest but aren't special. When they "fail" me my usual goto has been streaming BBC-3 for classical music. Since last summer they ceased covering North America (or maybe just the USA?).

Bdhsfz6 reminded me of something my wife and I did a number of years ago when we brought our oldest son from Minnesota to Swannanoa, North Carolina for college. I had a Garmin GPS with me, but we also used Google Maps on a smartphone. I probably drove a bit more than my wife did, but we did take turns driving. I asked her to compare routes when we started and from time to time during the trip.
