Question about Extra POI Editor
Hello, long absence, now setting up some GPS units. My Bitdefender AV just went off when I tried to download the latest current version and is not liking it at all. Has this happened with anyone else?
I should add I am proceeding with the Garmin POI loader but was just interested.

Motorcycle Helmets, Bluetooth, And GPS
For those of you that ride motorcycles, do you have Bluetooth in your helmet, if you wear one, and get GPS directions that way? If so, how well does it work out? What Garmin, or other, devices would you recommend for motorcycle navigation that uses Bluetooth?

Really??? Next it will be farting in public!! Just wait!
Now, there’s a proposal to keep pedestrians safe that could set off a national trend.
Crossing busy Broad Street in downtown Stamford can be a challenge, even if you’re not staring down at text messages on your cell phone.

A proposed ‘textalyzer’ bill might give cops the right to access your cellphone
I'm sure this could cause all kinds of differing points of views oh well...
A New York bill that would allow police to use a "textalyzer" device to determine whether drivers have been using their phone at the scene of a car accident is causing concern among some civil liberties groups, who say that it could interfere with people's cellphone privacy.

This week we’re recognizing, Eaglesft!
Last week he updated his True Food Kitchen file (I’m big on the quinoa thing right now, so hoping I’ll get to check one out soon!) as well as re-building the Historical Markers-US file.
We’re not sure what happened to the original, but appreciate him taking the time to get this one put together.

Facebook Uses AI To Fight Malicious Link 'Cloaking'
Facebook announced that it's using AI to decloak malicious content that's masquerading as legitimate advertisements or web pages. These efforts are supposed to help the company make sure bad actors can't evade its reviewers' gazes to mislead or harm the billion-plus people who use its service.

FCC Mulls Combining Wired And Wireless Broadband Goals
What is "broadband" internet access? Right now the FCC restricts the term to wired connections with 25Mbps download and 3Mbps upload speeds. Now the agency has asked the public to comment on its proposal to include in that definition wireless connections, which have a minimum 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up.

Senior Pass for NPS, Forest Service and other federal recreation sites
Greetings,
I thought we already had a thread here on the subject but I can't find it. Given that we GPS owners travel a lot and that many of us are age 62+, I thought I'd share this.

The Places in America Where Seniors are Most--and Least--Likely to Take Their Blood Pressure Meds
Your ZIP code can signal a lot about your health — including how consistent you are in taking your pills.
STAT wanted to know: Where in America are people most likely to take their prescription drugs? And where are they least likely?

Eclipse results
Well, my driveway was only going to give me a 70%-ish coverage of the eclipse, and that percentage matched the roughly 70% cloud cover today. My best view was supposed to be at around 10:30 but the sun was behind a cloud from 15 minutes before the peak to 15 minutes after its max.
