Garmin talk

I discovered that you can get the TTS voices working (at least temporarily) on the C510 (and presumably the C530). This is not to be entered into lightly though - hangs / crashes /lock-ups are to be expected -- and there's a lot of deleting to do to make enough space for the new voices.

Has anyone loaded MP3 files to the Nuvi 660? Is a SD card required or do they work if load them to the internal memory? I've loaded a few but I can only view and listen to the Audiobook samples pre-installed within the unit.

I was using my C340 today to get to an address I had never been to. Wondering whether the unit was taking me through the Harbor Tunnel or Key Bridge, I touched the top of the page. This normally would then break down my directions and showing me where it was taking me. This time it was lock solid and wouldn't show me the different streets on the route.

I recently bought a nuvi 350 and I am curious if different maps can be loaded into the unit. For example, could I load Streets and Trips or Google maps or any other mapping software inot the unit instead of City Navigator? Also, in old threads I came across some discussions regarding nRoute. Can it be used with a nuvi 350?

I have down loaded 4 routes from a motorcycle campground website. They are good riding routes for bikers, but I don't know how to load them on my 2720 and where will they be after I load them?( Very new to using gps,just trying to learn and need help)

Is it possible to only be alerted once when approaching a custom poi? Example, I have a Starbucks close to my home and has soon as my Nuvi 660 acquires a signal I get a constant reminder/alert for the next couple of blocks. Is it possible to adjust this?

Anyone have any experience with this mount? The C320 keeps falling off the suction mount for me.

Fry's (frys.com) has the Streetpilot C320 on sale for $199.99 with free shipping (not sure on the tax - last year I paid tax for a purchase online since there was a store in my state).

It is on back order though.....

I paid $290 after shipping / tax from Costco last year.

Since I bought my used Garmin StreetPilot 2730 last year I have just recently started experimenting with MapSource, compiling favorites online, and downloading custom POIs. I have never really paid much attention to the MP3 and audible book capability. I have done a search here, but I really didn't find much. I might be interested in trying both of these features purely for learning purposes.

I frequently used yahoo yellow pages to look up businesses of all kinds, and then put the address in mapquest to get driving directions. I just got a Nuvi 660, and it can pretty much take the place of both yahoo yellow pages and the driving directions, but I have noticed that it doesnt have many of the businesses in my area, for whatever reason.

Does anyone know if WAAS is better/more accurate than CIRF III? I have a nuvi 660, and I have read several pro's/con's, but wanted to ask here. Thanks in advance

When I enter my home address on a Mio 310X it showed the location as the second house from the corner. My home is the 5th house from the corner. I was able to try it with a Garmin C320. Entered address and it was pretty much right on. So, I thought maybe the navteq software in the Garmins was more accurate than the TelAtlas software in the Mio.

So, when I got my Nuvi 350. Tried it and it showed the location to be very similar to what the 310X said (about 2nd houses from corner). Looked it up with maquest and google. It also show roughly 2nd house from corner.

The C320 and 350 both had City Navigator version 8. The 350 came with the lastest software versions.

This is not a problem. I just stood on the driveway and did a Set Home from there.

Just wondering if anybody could shed some light about the different readings. (C320 vs 350)

I've got a Nuvi 360 and love it, but would really like to see the POI's on the map like Magellan does. It seems that the POI's I put in "my favorites" show up, but no others. It would be helpful when travelling, especially how Magellan has the touch interface that brings up the POI info at a finger touch.
I apologize if this sounds confusing. I blame it on the cold medicine I'm taking!!!! lol

Is there a way to edit the displayed address? My unit will allow me to change the name, symbol, or phone #, but not the address. Any help appreciated, and thanks

Not sure if this is possible, but I have been all over the web and not finding a whole lot out there. Also, it seems as though there were a lot of knowledgeable folks here, I could get a quick yay or nay on this option.

On my Garmin C 530 in the trip information screen I have had the Total Time Info and the Stopped info display dashes after a while. It is displayed in this style --:--
Now I cant start these fields back up, without resetting my information. Can anybody explain to me why the garmin does this and if I can prevent it. Any info is appreciated. DC

Does anyone have a preference on an FM transmitter? I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 which plays MP3's and audio books and I was wondering if there are any good FM transmitters that would be great for it
