Garmin talk

Anyone know when did Garmin put out the 2008 map on their GPS? My Garmin 650 just dead. I press the on/off switch, nothing happen, I lost the regristration code and did not regrister in Garmin's wed site. I need this information to convenance the Garmin Support person that my GPS is less than 1 year old.

The favorites list is sorted by distance on my 260. Can this be arranged in alphabetical order instead?

The other day I was looking at my trip stats and noticed that my max speed was 147 mph. My GPS has only been in a Suburban and a hearse. Neither of which can go anywhere near that fast! I wonder why.

My Streetpilot C340 GPS is one month old. Today I used it for few hours without connected to charging device. Now it won't charge. Screen has no power even if I switch it on. I tried charging through USB and car lighter charger. But no success. Does anybody have any idea.

I am new to GPS, just got a Gramin 650 few months ago. When I set my GPS to TTS mode, it always say "Take left or right onto I-xxx East" for every freeway entrance in here. When I change to Non TTS mode, it know the freeway entrance is on left or right, for the same freeway entrance. Does the more expense GPS has this problem?

I was wondering what u guys prefer when u use your gps unit in your vehicles. Do u guys have it connected to the power supply when in use or do u guys charge it and then use it without the cord until the battery runs low? Any benefits for whichever choice?

I often browse though the list of POI’s I see in this and other sites and feel compelled to download ones I’m interested in but don’t (At least not large numbers of files). The reason is that I don’t want to load POI’s that may all ready be in the unit’s data base. Although some are intuitive, like the great law enforcement cameras POI files, not to be in the unit, others are not.

I want to know if there is a way to change a name of a poi? For example I downloaded Walmart yesterday and when I simulated my garmin 350 "Jill" announced I arrived at a address # instead of Walmart. Can someone help me out with this one. Thanks.

I had a Magellan Maestro for about 3 days and one of the things that I liked about it was the ability to look at the route it had calculated and give the option of excluding a specific road. I read a comment on another forum that seemed to say that this functionality was also on the 7xx series. Is this true?

Also, Has the latest firmware fixed the long satellite acquisition times?

For last few weeks, have noticed that when the unit is turned on, it takes often 5minutes or longer before it gets a sat signal. This is in wide open country, not blocked by buildings. Any thoughts?

How can I get a scroll up/down in POI description to work?. I've try "",# and alt+enter, still not work.

While trying out my brand new nuvi 660 a few days ago, it told me that there is an A&W reataurant in Sedrowoolley, in Washington St. With a bit of surprise that there might be an A&W in that small town, not far from where I was, and because I like A&W, I set out. Curiosity and hunger had me... I was on my way.

I've loaded POI's for truck stops, campgrounds, and low clearances into my nuvi 200. They show up under Extras as separate items for each cvs file (Love's, Flying J, Pilot, low clearances, etc). Regardless of the size of each file, the nuvi only displays 13 pages, 4 to a page, or 52 POI's for each file. They are the nearest 52 as far as I can determine.

Do u guys update ur file for the redlight camera each week it comes out? If so, do u just erase the old one and save the new one or does it automatically overwrite it?

I recently upgraded my c530 to the 2008 maps and had no problem loading them. I put the 48 states on the c530 and Canada and the rest on my SD card. Evrything went well and it works perfectly. My question is this: I used my laptop which has a DVD drive to install the maps and the additional programs, MAP INSTALL and MAPSOURCE. Now my Desktop computer does NOT have a DVD drive.
