I have a new Nuvi 660 and I was thinking of ordering a couple extra suction cup mounts for my extra vehicles.
My question is as follows.
Are the Garmin accessories of the same exact quality and fit as the original accessories that came in the box with my new nuvi 660?
The reason I ask is in the past I have purchased factory accessoies for other products to find that the accessories where of slightly different quality, materials and fit than the original accessories that came with the products. So have any of you found this to be so with Garmin accessories?
Thanks
Personally, I would just go
Personally, I would just go to Best Buy and buy a Nav Mat friction pad or the Garmin Friction Pad.
Since you have the suction cup mount, the Nav Mat should do fine. All you do is connect the suction cup part of the 660 to the Nav Mat, and you don't have to worry about sticking anything to the car. Just take the Nav Mat with you wherever you go.
after market stuff
I haven't had my GPS long but my experience with after market add on has always been a mixed bag. I've had pretty good luck with radio shack connector type stuff. The guy at the big Garmin store in chicago did'nt quite stear me away from there accessories but he did say you could probably find things cheaper if you shopped around.

True. The Nav Mat was $29
True. The Nav Mat was $29 and the Garmin Friction mat was $42. The main difference was the Garmin Friction mat cam with the arm and ball mount attached. If you get the Nav Mat, it didn't come with the extra arm and ball mount. An extra arm and ball mount with the suction piece is about $15, about the difference in the 2 Friction mats.
You can either just take the Nav Mat with you into any car, or if you buy the Garmin Friction mat, simply keep the that in one car, and keep the regular arm and ball mount with the suction cup on the other car. That way, all you would have to do is simply just disconnect the gps receiver.

Thanks for your replys, but my original question still stands.

I thinks so, from what I have experienced. I have been happy with extra pieces I have purchased.

Yes, as far as I can tell. I haven't bought any duplicate items, but I did buy the friction mount, USB cable and AC power cord and all seem to be of equal quality to the accessories that came in the box.

I think it is...
Now with that said I have not bought extra suction mounts. I chose to go with the friction mount. It is Garmin's I purchased it through Dell before Christmas, It was $29 with free shipping. So shop around. The thing I would question is this if you are buying complete mounts and cords you are going to be spending a lot. If your plan is separating it at the ball. You might want to check the different forums. There was issues with wear or loosening of the ring that keeps the Nuvi tight on the ball. Also thieves looking for mounts and circle marks on windshields to target vehicles.
