Solar Power Works for nuvi 350.

I wanted to start a new thread on a successful alternative for powering the nuvi.

and the Wall Street Journal Saw it. So they interviewed me and today the story came out. It was on the front page. The story was about the GPSr steering people wrong. The happened to me on vacation when while I was out Geo-caching. I was going from one cache to another and the GPS routed me over an abandoned road.

I noticed that when I save an address as a Favorite in my Nuvi, the address is retained and shows up in the favorite. If I create it in Mapsource and then download it into the Nuvi, only the name shows. Can anybody verify this?

Question from a friend of mine:

Does the 2610 hold the complete map of the US?? If so, what are common uses for the flash card?

If not, how does the flash card get loaded with partial maps?

I have a new Garmin Nuvi 350. I wanted to get rid of the jpegs which came with the unit from the factory and put my own photos on the 350. Using my Mac computer I deleted the factory jpegs and then saved some of my jpegs to the jpeg directory. When I turned the 350 on and went to the picture viewer I was able to see my photos but the factory jpegs are still there as though I never deleted them.

Is there a way to add a custom button for the poi file I am loading?

I have several custom poi files that catagorize my poi's and I would like to have an icon to push rather than the bar with the filename. I see the Garmin do this in other areas. Not the custom poi area.

I recently found a site that sells Battery Charger/Extenders (uses 4 AA Batts)for many GPSs:

They also sell many other accessories for GPSs, Cell Phones, MP3 Players etc….

I purchased a "AA Battery Charge Extender for the Garmin Nuvi 750" and it was supplied with the proper tip so the Nuvi boots up in the NAVIGATION mode.

This may be a little off basic subject matter but....... it is a GPS.
Has anyone owned and used the Garmin GolfLogix? The reviews have been good but I am interested in the annual fee for downloading different golf courses. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I was flying to VA last week on my first out-of-state trip with my 200W. Was going to rent a car and use my 200W to get from Dulles to Arlington. So while I was waiting for my plane at ATL I decided to input the address of my destination. I was shocked to find an "F" where the "V" should be on the alpha input screen.

I just got a Nuvi 200 a few days ago. It has been working great with a consistent three to four green bars on satellite and no problems at all acquiring. Then last evening about 8pm I left a meeting and drove for nearly 20 minutes and the unit would not acquire satellites at all. It displayed one or two red bars the whole time.

I am looking for opinions on a low price gps. My GF's sister borrowed my sc340 and loved it, I only own it for a few months but I am now the "expert"! I am assuming the Nuvi 200 series is comparable to my 340.

I see a lot of folks call the GPS a "GPSr"

I know that 'GPS' stands for --Global Positioning System--.

I would like to ask what the "r" stands for, and why is it in lower-case?

Needing more space for my POIs, I bought a 2gig SD card for my c530. Using POI Loader, I downloaded several POIs through the USB cable to the card in the c530. Everything went OK with a "successfully loaded" message at the end. I see the new files on the SD from explorer. But, when I access "Extras" in the Garmin, it only sees the old POIs that are installed internally.

On my Garmin 360, I've installed a number of custom POIs (Thank you POI Factory!). It is a little annoying that the POIs are not in alphabetical order. Is there an order to how the POIs are listed on my Garmin?

I only have 3 pages of custom POIs, so it's not too bad, but it is annoying.

ok, last week i loaded my custom poi's to my unit no issues, today i went to upload another fet of files the loader went throught the steps, said they are on the unit, but when i go to extras i dont see them, what did a do wrong?

made a trip to Texas, it was great to have the rest area poi set, since we have a 2 yearold and are potty training!... we cannot wait to bring little emma home from China late next year....

When I save a location on my nuvi, the data must be stored somewhere in the nuvi's internal memory and I'd think it will be somewhere in the Garmin subdirectory. I'd like to make sure that I have these backed up to my PC.

When I save the first location to my nuvi, is a new file created? Or is there an existing nuvi file that's modified with the additional info?

I gather that it is important to properly disconnect a nuvi from its PC connection after a POI loading, firmware update, etc.

What I do is go to my PC's "My Computer", right click my "nuvi drive", then click Eject. This makes the nuvi drive disappear in My Computer and turns off the nuvi. Then I unplug the USB cable. This is what I should be doing, right?

I would like to know why and how to load POI files on my 260. When using my gps, what will I have to do to see them on the screen? Do you keep the card in all the time? Do they show up by themself? Boy, do I feel dumb. A nice owners book would have helped! I did figure how to delete and put my own pictures on it.
