Garmin talk

I don't know if other nuvi 350 are like this but I just got mine less than a week ago and there is a constant buzzing noise coming from the stereo of the unit that sounded like the buzzing noise when you turn on a compact fluorescent lamp but in my case the buzzing won’t stop. I know it’s not the stereo because if I plug in my earphone then the buzzing stop.

Excuse a newbie question. I have the Garmin c550 unit. Are there any POI's to help me search for directions to a person's residence by just typing in there name? Thanks in advance!

I just bought the Nuvi 260 and went to the garmin website to get the software updates. It was already loaded with the 2009 maps but for some reason want to update the software to version 4.10 (i think).

Anyway I have 2/3 questions.

Can I download/save all the info from GPS?

I am a nuvi 750 user. I bought a gomadic battery charger couple days ago for extending my 750 battery life during the long trip. But the thing is that the battery did not work at all. It only worked as the internal battery is alive. It won't charge the 750 internal battery. I used rechargedable battery. I set brightness 50%. The longest hour I used with battery box is 5 hours.

Is it possible to tell what roads are unpaved by looking at a nuvi display or Mapsource data?

I am plotting a bike route (manually) but want to avoid any roads that are unpaved.

Has anyone experience a fluctuating GPI file yet? I have a couple GPI files on my nuvi and when I go to Custom Poi's, sometimes the files are there, sometimes they are not! I have reloaded the files but they are not always the same ones that get affected. I have the GPI's on the unit not the SD Card so it is not like a card missing contact.

Since I got my nuvi760, the battery has never been even close to empty. It stays on the charger in my car, unless I leave the car. In which case it's turned off & in my purse.

So do I need to let the battery discharge & fully recharge periodically?

Is the Garmin speed alarm supposed to sound when driving
through a shopping center parking lot at 5 mph?

How do I get the custom POI's and my custom maps I downloaded from garmin into mapsource. I purchsed a few madmaps downloads and would like to get them into my mapsouce software. I would also like to be able to get many of the Custom POI's from this site into mapsource.

I have the Zumo 550 with the 2009 maps with a few madmaps add ons

I cranked up a new computer, and do not have a Mapsource disk. I send an e-mail to Garmin and asked for Mapsource to develop routes and manage my favorites on my Nuvi 750. I get a reply that they are sending me Mapsource.

I use the Linux operating system on most of my computers. Linux has an environment called Wine within which you can run many Windows programs. I usually boot into Windows to use POI Loader but this morning I decided to try it using Linux and Wine. It installed just fine and runs great. So, I am just sharing this for anyone who might be running or considering running Linux as an OS.

Used POILoader and put my custom POIs on the same SD card where I had already copied the 2008 maps. (I have another post that described that process using some great instructions from another thread). POILoader did not overwrite the entire garmin folder. Does anyone know if the POI Loader simply overwrites the poi.gpi file on the SD card?

Are there any available? If so, can they be loaded on an SD card? Thanks in advance.

Am I the only one or am I crazy. Is there anyway to have the unit reset the trip every time I turn off the unit? I cannot believe that they expect us to do this manually everytime.

I have been using my 760 for sometime and absolutly love the unit. But I am having an issue with the bluetooth. For some reason, on some calls there is no audio. I have to hit the transfer audio to phone button and then the transfer audio to unit button and then I can hear the call. Anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

There is a E85 gast station next to the town that I am in... However, that service is not listed in the nationwide E85 listing.. How do I list it?

I'm new to this forum and new to Garmin GPS.
I show that there are different downloads for POI.
1. GPX - with Garmin extension (phone dial support)
2. Garmin CSV - regular line breaks
3. Garmin CSV - nuvi 350/360 line breaks
4. Garmin CSV - no line breaks (easier to import)

Not sure which one to donwload? Sorry if this has been asked before as I could not find it.

Just purchased Nuvi 255W. Seems great so far. Worth the money in my opinion. Would like to get some discussion going on this particular model. I'll post my observations & issues as well.

Is there an easy to use software to edit the current.gpx files and then save them back to my favorites. Righ now I am either using Microsoft word and sometimes notepad or wordpad
