Unpaved Roads

Is it possible to tell what roads are unpaved by looking at a nuvi display or Mapsource data?

I am plotting a bike route (manually) but want to avoid any roads that are unpaved.

Here is what I do

Here is what I do on motorcycle when I just want to get out and ride the countryside. I set my GPS avoidances to skip unpaved roads. I then set a final destination and take off. I often ignore the route the GPS is suggesting. The GPS will just keep recalculating. I can glance at the GPS and know I will always have a route without unpaved roads available if I need it.

I set the aviodances but in kansas it still tries to take some unpaved roads, I just let it recal..
