Nuvi 760 trip

Am I the only one or am I crazy. Is there anyway to have the unit reset the trip every time I turn off the unit? I cannot believe that they expect us to do this manually everytime.

trip

you could save it as a route. also look in recently found waypoints

Trip meter

Not sure I understand what you mean? Could you explain how this would reset the trip meter? Basically, I would like it to start at 0 miles and 0 time everytime I power on the unit.

Trip Reset

Not as far as I know. I know what you want, but who is to say that turning the unit off signals the end of a trip? What if you're on a long (possibly multi-day) trip and didn't want it to reset each time you stopped for the night or simply stopped at McDonalds to go to the restroom? Sometimes you’d want it to behave one way and sometimes the other. No solution would work for all occasions other than having it ask if you’d like to reset the trip everytime you powered the unit up. I know that I would quickly tire of that feature.

I treat mine like I do my car's trip odometer. I just let it run until I'm starting a trip for which I want the mileage/stats. Then I reset it.

reset trip prompt

Me too. Perhaps the unit should prompt the user if they want to reset the last trip when the "Go" button is pressed.

A simple check box in the preferences somewhere would do the trick ... "Reset Milage at Power On".

You can contact Garmin with that suggestion, but I don't believe they will add it to the firmware of current models if they accept the idea ... you'll have to buy a new GPS to get that future feature.

This idea is certainly an option that I would like on occasion.

trip meter

I have gotten in the habbit of resetting mine every morning. My wife never resets hers.

Optional would be ok

If it was optional - a simple check box as suggested above - that would be fine. I don't want another prompt at boot and I don't want the unit to wipe my trip every time I turn it off. I use the trip length for my travel claims at work. It makes a great backup to the trip odometer on the car.

This is not entirely true unless they changed their policies. When I first received my nuvi 350 in '05 the Garmin Lock and a few other features were not included, but were made available in a later FW update.

One can only request and hope
