Garmin talk

My garmin nuvi 260 doesn't seem to be reading the external card. It was working about a month ago and I've not used the unit much since. When I plug my garmin into my laptop, I can see the Garmin icon and the files associated with that, but micro sd card doesn't show up as a separate drive. I switched out cards thinking that perhaps the card was bad. Am I missing something?

I am trying to send a route from Mapquest to my Nuvi, 765T. keeps telling me the communicator plugin is not detected, go to the test page, and it is detected. I am using IE 8, and Firefox, both get same message. Has anybody had this problem, and found a fix? I have the latest version of communicator 283

I haven't really used my Nuvi 650 much since I got it. That will change soon when we head south for the winter.

In preparation, I've been loading various custom POI's into my unit. After loading them in, I decided to check and see if they installed correctly.

i am willing to post coord.'s to my recent elk hunt if anyone would be willing to post the HOT spots ?! as noted i got a 6x7 bull this past 1st season in Co. there was no one around us, and there were plenty of Elk, tons of them to be honest!!

I just replaced my 350 with a 265WT as the subject line states. So far I like all the new features. I have not had much success with the Bluetooth sound quality and I am wondering if that is more a function of my phone (Blackberry Storm) or the GPS unit. Any suggestions?

I'm a bit confused. I purchased a Garmin nuvi 705 but on the bottom of the GPS it clearly says its a nuvi 765. Not a big problem, just something that confuses me.
Second question: When I try to load POI's I'm getting an error message that it can't find a .SOX file?????
Third question: It appears that it can't handle a wav. file, mp3's seem to be ok.

Just found out an interesting feature. I was running updates on my Nuvi 250W and my eTrex Vista. The eTrex had some geocashe sites and when I transferred the routes to Map Source I appended the routes to the Nuvi routes. I then added those routes and waypoints back to the Nuvi and TaDa those geocashe sites are now available on the Nuvi.

I am sick and tired of the traffic in Atlanta, GA and have decided to get a Nuvi with traffic capabilities. I have been reading lot of negative stuff about the new 1490T with lack of map detail and also similar issues with the 765T. Based on your experiences with your Nuvi model with traffic capability, what would you recommend that I get? Thank you so much for your suggestions

I have a Garmin nuvi 255W. To get to the address of a Starbuck's custom POI, I need to tap as follows:

Tap 1: Where to?-->
Tap 2: '[down arrow]'-->
Tap 3: Extras-->
Tap 4: Custom POIs-->
Taps 5-13: [down arrow] 9 times -->

Each time I turn on my 265WT it has me agree (or click ok) on a screen that states it is bad to use this device while driving. Is there any way to shut that off?

HI Everybody it has been a long while since I posted, but I just recently got back into the GPS world.

I had originally bought a C330 Street Pilot, but gave that to my son a while back, after I purchased a nuvi 750, which I later took back to the store.

Now I have a 255W, and I have a couple of questions.

Garmin has shown on their website their new LARGE screened unit, the Nuvi 1450 - a 5-inch screened unit that offers a lot of features that make it one of the top of the line entries from Garmin.

First, I'm new. I've tried to find this answer in the FAQ's with no result.

I have the 205. I'm trying to upload some of the .gpx POI files from this site and get the following error message:

Unable to read from the device "G:/Zio River Resort.jpg", please verify that the devise is connected and try again.

Just a thought - I think that it would be very helpful if Garmin would put a little indicator on each Garmin POI entry (or on each custom POI entry) that it displays. Being able to distinguish "theirs" from "ours" seems like a very helpful tool. Does this sound reasonable or useful to others?

I have a Garmin nuvi255W. It has two POIs for a "Spoonbills" restaurant, but one is spelled "Spoondills" and creates a spurious entry. Is there a way to notify Garmin of this (and other) POI changes?

I have a Map60Cx and a street pilot 320. Whenever I add a new poi file it erases my old poi files. Does this on both GPSrs Is their any way around this?

The Locale icon(mouth with red lips) says 'none found'
whereby it shd hv like 'British English'. Reception is good but it does not speak or giving instruction turn left or right..Check system info soft ver 6.00,audio ver:none, gtm10 ver n/a,gps sw ver3.00..Tried webupdater but nothing change..Cud it be some missing file..plss help..

I'm trying to configure my poi proximity alerts so that the audio is played ONLY when we arrive at destination. Currently, it will play even when passing by an address that is configured as a POI but not as a destination.

I've tried renaming the mp3 files without the "TourGuide" filename string before using POI loader, but it still happens.

I wish the Garmin would automatically remember the route I prefer and learn it after I use it a few times. I believe Sony has a GPS that does this.
