CSV versus GPX

Does anyone know any benefits to using a GPX file? For the same data they are larger and take my GPS a longer time to parse when searching locations. I am wondering if I should just stick to CSV files.

GPX

I always prefer GPX if one is available. They often include additional information that I don't get with the CSV files.

For example, when loading a GPX file, I can go to the "more info" option and see why a particular restaurant was recommended. It may list preferred foods, or something like that.

I don't see that in the CSV files.

options....

GPX allows for dialable phone numbers with BlueTooth whereas CVS will only display the phone number.

FYI, not all GPX files will contain more data than then CSV version. It all depends on the poi creator preference.

using GPX

Using, or if you use EPE to create one, lets you do other things such as set default speed and proximity alert easily. All-in-all, EPE is a very handy tool that is very flexible and will handle many different file types and formats to create Garmin, Tom-Tom or Magellan POI files.

Most of my files are GPX and all the files I create for POI-Factory are now GPX while some of the legacy ones I maintain are also provided in a stripped down CSV format as well. Yes, the CSV has less data than the GPX version.
