Traffic Services

With MSN Direct ending in 2012, which traffic subscription do you use and would you recommend, Navteq or TTN?

There is a good story at http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9140069/Microsoft_to_... . No surprise really as the terms of service indicated it was not guaranteed beyond January 1, 2012. No reason to buy a lifetime subscription at this point.

I use TTN. I have found they have better traffic flow information than NAVTEQ and their coverage is a bit better. In New York, TTN covers NYC, Binghamton, Syracuse and Rochester. NAVTEQ covers NYC, Rochester and Buffalo. Probably best to check the area you will be in and see which provider has the best coverage (URL's below). If you were in Buffalo, NY then NAVTEQ would be your only option. Likewise, if you were in Binghamton or Syracuse then TTN would be your only option.

The provider websites are http://www.totaltraffic.com/ and http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/.

Not news

This is only about the 4th thread on this site about this change.

Wouldn't it be better to consolidate the information in one place?

Currently have: SP3, GPSMAP 276c, Nuvi 760T, Nuvi 3790LMT, Zumo 660T

Site Administrator

I guess it would be up to the site administrator to consolidate them. I am not aware of any end-user capability to do that. Plus, someone has to pick which of the four threads to merge everything into.

Prioritizing

Sorry guys, I have to prioritize sometimes and it takes time to do the merging threads managing so I skip it if there is something else I am working on.

I am not just the forum moderator here, I also do everything else;)
