Installed - I'll test it out tomorrow.

Noticed something that might be new or I just never noticed it before....

Where To, My Locations, My Current Location, Show Map. Now zoom in all the way and there's a circle around your vehicle pointer. What's that for? Does it display your accuracy?

The tones are fixed! I did

The tones are fixed! I did not notice any other changes except my satellite acquisition time was much quicker then 5.10. Not sure if this due to the new firmware or just had good satellite geometry.

Also about the blue circle which has been around since I got my Nuvi, you are right its your accuracy.

Thanks for the info on the new download

I have a question though. While I was updating my 350 I found I also had an update to chipset G 5. I downloaded this and installed it but couldn't find info on Garmin's site as to what it did for my unit.

Any info would be appreciated.

GPS Chipset type G is name

GPS Chipset type G is name Garmin uses for the SiRF III GPS chip. It handles the satellite acquisition protocol. On your Nuvi About Page look at the GPS SW listed for the version. 2.90 was released in Nov,2006 and 3.00 was just released in early December,2007.

Fixed tones, broke currency converter

They really need to work on their software QC. The attention tones are fixed but now they broke the currency converter. At least that's something that won't affect my use of the unit.

I can't really say I have noticed any improvement in satellite acquisition or accuracy. It was already stellar in that regard. But today was a big let down. We went to downtown Chicago to go to the theatre and in the deep urban canyons, my Nuvi 350 completely lost signal and did not regain it again until we got out of the Loop. And that was where we needed it the most. Have other Chicagoans experienced the same troubles? We were in the area of Monroe and Wabash which is the heart of the deepest and most narrow canyons in the city. Didn't get signal back until we got down to Congress.

Did it work down there

Did it work down there before the update? And were you in the clear, or is that where the el tracks go overhead?

Thanks

I was wondering and not being that tech savvy I thought I might have done something I shouldn't have. It's good to know that I am now up to date.

QC is hard to do.

Yeah, I agree, but in their defense, it is really hard to catch some stuff. I am in software and when I test it, I don't think to test some things that might affect the new chances. So what happened iwth the attention tones, it isn't that uncommon where I work.
