Yesterday all was good. Today the NUVI just started shutting off. Turn it back on and goes through the Logo, load maps, and if I hit the acceptance button shutsw off. If I leave it the route continues for a while then shuts off again. Time for a hard reset?
Any ideas what's happening?
Any chance the battery is depleted or the charger is not charging it? Are you able to get to the battery meter display before it shuts off?
Battery is solid green with lighting bolt.I use it everyday just to keep me company. I like yelling at it.
Then your original thought of the hard reset is what I'd try next.

1 - Have you updated the firmware or map recently?
2 - Does the unit shut down when operating on battery only (no charger or cord connected)?
3 - Does it shut down when using an AC charger?
A "yes" to questions 2 and 3 will eliminate power as the problem.
I would definitely try a hard reset.
When mine did that, it was the battery. Try connecting to computer or 12vdc or 120vac power.
...the hard reset. Can't hurt anything as far as I know. I've had to reset my units a few times and nothing strange has happened as a result.
Do a hard reset.
