No joking. TomTom Home updates software about once per year, not 3 times in 3 weeks. That should tell you something. I have had them all and my present ones are a 255W and a 1490LMT. Both very good. However, I have tried more recent Garmin models and they have slipped way behind. Garmin has become complacent and their recent devices show it.
I connected Nuvi 2450 to Garmin Map Updater to see what was there. It downloaded a new Updater (3.3.4) then said I could re-install the 2015.30 or exit. Of course I exited.
I am a long time holdout for GE. Maybe someday. But as long as MayUpdater works I will probably use it. Look at how long I held out for BaseCamp and now I love it. Maybe that will be what happens with GE..
The Europe map is finally available, 38 days after its manifest was published. Hopefully NA won't take that long.

Since North America went on the servers on 3/5 we should still have a wait but hopefully not near the 38 days like the Euro map.

Thinking a gap would be in order not to release both maps too closely apart since it would tax the servers, however, if they're in different continents it shouldn't matter.

TomTom's road maps are a joke (TeleAtlas). Also I think it's very strange one would base switching brands of hardware GPS based solely on the fact that the home software is updated often. Bear in mind the vast majority of updates for GE are not related to the PND lines at all, lately most all updates have to do with vivofit.
Now it'll be interesting to see if Map Updater can still be used

That is incorrect. It is true for the past two versions (at least), but with some versions in the past, NA was released before Europe.
Never on a Monday or on a Friday! In fact, in the last 23 map updates only one release was on a Tuesday, fourteen were on a Wednesday, and eight were on a Thursday.

Here we are mid March and still no update. Over a month overdue compared to previous years. If here.com is any indication not likely much will change, at least in my area. Some streets in my area not showing on Here have been on TeleAlas and even Cloud-made for over a year. Height of complacency and arrogance. They could at least explain on their website. Don't bet the farm on that.
I am sorry for the troubles. There were a few reports of Europe download issues on Friday. Most of those were from customers trying to install the maps to the computer as well as the device. Try running the update to install to the device only or give us a couple of days to identify and sort this out. The Europe update was just released
I saw this earlier today over on the Garmin software forums in the Macintosh section. I wonder if this will cause a further delay in the release of the NA map.
This error has been noted by Garmin. It only occurs when your initial map install was for the full map. If you installed a reduced region (like the lower 49), you will still get the advanced options for reinstall. Also, when a new map is released, you will still get the advanced options on the initial install.
I am sure this behavior was not intended, and Garmin has said they are "looking into" reenabling the advanced options for reinstall in a future update of Garmin Express.

GE won't allow changing map location on PC to another loc.
Anyone got a book on software regression testing that you can donate to Garmin's software staff?
The latest GE won't allow you to save to an alternate location on your PC and it won't allow you to even see the advanced options on a map Reinstall.
