Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Super Walmart discussion thread

Check line 2096 of the combined file...

I grabbed the csv files for Target, Home Depot and Walmart today. I successfully converted Target and Home Depot files into KML files via csv2kml. For some reason, though, the Walmart file is converted with 0 records.

Does anyone know what's going on? I don't think its a problem with csv2kml, since I successfully converted Target and Home Depot using exactly the same procedure.

The only difference between the pois you listed is the size (Wal-Mart combined is about twice the size) and there is a formatting difference of column "D" of the Wal-Mart poi. You might post this question as a new topic regarding the csv2kml program. Some members who use the program may not read this thread...

The Berlin, CT store will be moving on July 22nd up the road a bit to a new location with a gas station which is now open is at:

I was in Oklahoma City, Ok in the Brick Town District. I used this POI to go to the nearest walmart. However, it turned out to be a Bass Pro Shop. I wish I can give you more info. But I hope this helps.

Don't worry about it. I can't find the location on my GPS now.? I was near the intersection of I-40 & I-235 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Brick Town District).

This is a minor correction (1/4 mile) for the store in Childress Texas so that it puts the entrance at an intersection that is accessible to both sides of the highway.

Hi, "Wal-Mart #2167: Whiteland" is misplaced. It is located in the building directly next to (the right) of "Sam's Club #6558: Exton".

Please correct the following Sam's and Walmart in Clarksville Indiana.

Change the coordinates for the Clarksville Super Wal-Mart # 1476 to N38.32930 W85.75851. It also shares a Gas station with Sam's.

Change the coordinates for the Clarksville Sam's Club # 4851 to N38.32923 W85.76054. Sams's shares a Gas station with Wal-mart.

I down loaded the Wal-Mart and Sam's clubs to my Garmin 255W and they are only spots with no flag. Their is a Murphy flag next to the store. Did I miss something when I down loaded the combined POI?

I see a lot of messages here but the basic .csv file hasn't been updated since 7/18/2009. Any Problems?

Don't get too excited yet, but I think it's coordinates are near (36.06166716613584, -95.74241638183594). I just picked these coordinates off of Google maps. I'll drive out there in the next few days and make sure I have it correct. (All the satellite photos are still showing a field there.)

The Wal-Mart website also indicates there is a Neighborhood Market in Owasso, OK (In the same building where a different grocery store recently closed)

aophiuchus was updating this file regularly, sometimes several times a week. Then he disappeared. Hopefully he is okay and that he only got burned out. We do miss him and all the work he was doing on this file as well as others.

donaldb530 posted an entry a couple of weeks ago offering to help for awhile, but I haven't seen any updates either.

This file takes a lot of work to keep up. There was a time that Walmart was opening a new store at least every day someplace. They continue to move stores to larger locations all the time. Keeping up with with Walmart and Sams and which has fuel could be a full time job for someone.

I finally got a chance to drive out there. improved coordinates are: (36.065301076878626, -95.74211597442627)

The Arnold, Missouri 63010 Walmart is now a Super Walmart. They have built the new store at the same location.

On the walmart.com site they now have a new category of stores:

I presently maintain the file and am having trouble with the Keyser, WV Super Wal-Mart # 2474. The address indicates a post office box and Google Earth shows a residential neighborhood. (RR4,Box 82). Any help would be appreciated.

I found a Walmart Supercenter at US 220 and Trenum Drive in Keyser. It looks like a Walmart Supercenter on Google Earth. Coordinates appear to be -79.00891/39.40002.
