Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Super Walmart discussion thread

The Walmart in Glen Ellyn, Illinois (Same Location)has been recently rebuilt into a super-Walmart.

Hi I am not new to poi factory but am new to comments. I am a retired Walmart driver. I to did the GPS locations for the southeast. If you think it would help I can send you a copy of my files.
Also can you tell me how to get these files on to other make GPS so I can help other WM drivers to use this info too. Let me know.

Just think how many McDonald's will close too..

Don't know about McD's, but around here Subway's are a staple in Walmart stores. Fortunately, my state missed out on a lot of the closures.

P.S. I don't eat at Subway's or McD's

The store in Grandview that is closing was one of the Test Stores. It is a Market but they call it Express Store in the closing list. It is only a few months old and I go to it every month to buy my mother groceries. We will have to go back to Brookshires. Mother lives on WalMart Ice Cream. She will be so disappointing.

In the past I have been able to look up WM stores by their store number. In the last two files that I have uploaded I've noticed that this feature is no longer available. I'm a WM driver and this feature has really helped me to quickly find the route to the store that I need.

Are you using the GPX or CSV file? They should be in both but I will re-check.

Does a file exist that only have Sam's Clubs with gas?

I'm going to be doing a fair bit of traveling starting the end of the month and it would be nice to have just the club's with fuel show up as I won't need the general club's.

Use POI Editor to convert the file to Excel Format. Sort and remove what you don't need and then use EPE to make a new gps file,

It wasn't there when I went via POI...
I found the new one.... Saved co-ordinates in parking lot of new Walmart location, which was not flagged via POI....

Why do other POI's have the GPX and CSV links on the same page, but Walmart's are on separate pages?

The .CSV is for Rand McNally and I believe it is a different format. If That is not true, let me know and it will save me some extra work.

What I mean is, if you look at other POI's, they have links to both formats on one page (at least for the many I've looked at), but the Walmart POI is on two separate pages.

The two separate pages make it so the file is available in 3 possible formats. GPX, CSV or OV2.
These files are maintained by volunteers and not all maintainers want to keep two separate files. This is a pretty poplar file, so it's nice to have both pages so that Garmin, Rand McNally and TomTom users can all download it.

It appears you have a Garmin so the GPX file is probably best for you.

I'm not having trouble deciding which to use. I was just curious really. But IMO it would make things easier for everyone if they were on one page.

I loaded the coordinates into my 3597 and routed form VA. It went straight to the coordinates, coming in from the East off Gall Blvd.

Using the address places you about a block south of the actual building and away from the entrance.

Added #3418.

No it hasn't been removed but I will check and see if I can solve the problem.

The address for the Sam's Club at 1905 S. 300 W Salt Lake City Utah is missing the W in the list for its address.

Hi. I have a TND 1050 that I'm trying to set up some POI files in. I'm a trucker and have set up some files I downloaded from POI-Factory. Only one I cannot get to load is the Walmart CSV. I keep getting the blue tag "Importing Custom POI's" followed by "Error importing POIs"

I have the Blue Beacon CSV in and it works fine so I know I have the files stored in the right folder.

Does anyone know if the WM CSV file is broken or does it need to be edited in some way? I've tried opening it in the POI Editor program and it opens ok there so I don't know if its the file or not. I also tried exporting it in some of the other CSV formats available from the program. None of them worked

Any advice would be appreciated

In downloaded file from March, it noted that the supercenter in Fall River, Mass. allows overnight parking.
Going to music there Saturday and called ahead to verify status.
CService contacted manager and they say that they do NOT allow parking overnight, and that policy has been in effect for a long time.
Please pass this along to whomever updates the WalMart POI files for their info.
