Then you could show the sam's icon, but you would probably want to remove the sam's clubs from the combined file so you wouldn't have dueling icons...

edit: each poi is available seperately, so you could have icons for walmart, supercenters and sam's clubs...

i.e. if a Sam's club is changeed the change is made to sam's club poi and the combined poi, and a supercenter change would be made to the two pois involved, wal-mart......etc

Does the Walmart file contain the Super Walmarts as well, or do I need to install both the Walmart and the Super Walmart separately?

I have been doing updates to the supercenter poi, and the changes are added to the combined poi, while doing this, I have noticed some locations were either miss-marked or have changed from wal-mart to a supercenter. I haven't been making those changes to the wal-mart poi, so some wal-marts in the wal-mart poi may actually be supercenters...

It's an on going process, if you notice any inaccuracies please let me know, it will be greatly appreciated.

If I ever finish with the supercenter poi, I will start on the wal-mart poi….

Address is correct in the file but the coordinates should be:

-82.3014 27.98171

Superstore is in Milford, PA.
The POI coordinates stop a significant distance before approaching any sight of the store. If you came from one direction, you would see the store before you hit the POI waypoint, but from the opposite direction you may be scratching your head and wondering.

The POI lists the address as 220 Route 6 Route 209 which is consistent with Wal-Mart's website, yet my waypoint set the address at the entrance as 260 Route 209.

The coordinates I have are:
N41 21.061'
W07 44.041

Also, the road that the store is on is both Route 6 and US 209. If you attempt to find the address (posted or corrected) as being on Route 6, the Garmin will not recognize the address. If you use US 209, it will find it.

You may want to remove the "Route 6" from the POI address.

(Also...There is a McDonald's seated at the entrance to the parking lot of this Superstore. My Garmin 660 with the 2008 map does not show that it exists. I don't know if the Mc'Donald's POI has it though (I never bothered to download it). If it is not present there, the coordinates would be identical.)

Corrections made...

Although it took me a while to figure that W07 44.041 = W77 44.041. I left the address the same as that is the way Wal-Marts have it listed... I did a lot of searching and it seemed as though the location should be at Waterford & Broad St, your coordinates finally set me straight...

W77 44.041 does not = -77.44041
I just felt the need to point this out. I had to put a batch of files made by one person in the Moderation queue the other day because they were using the above formula of just adding a negative mark and moving the decimal point.

If you see this in any files on the site, please let me know so that I can get them fixed.

Obviously W07 44.041 Does not = W77 44.041 , it was a typo I assumed. W77 44.041 is degs & Mins which actually = -74.734017 in decimal. I put the converted coordinates in the pois...

Since the kids fell asleep in the car, I had the time to tinker and try to resolve the location error. I copied what I saw on the GPSr screen into my Palm Treo so I could later add my post. I obviously had a typo, but the perseverance of Gary corrected the data.

As for the format, the GPSr reported the coordinates in degrees and this what I used. I've never created a POI from coordinates and was unaware of a preferred format. Although it was easy for me to find the degree symbol in my Treo, I couldn't find it to post here and left a space. Sorry for the confusion!

As much as I enjoy using the GPSr for all sorts of stuff not limited to driving guidance, POI Factory and the efforts of the members have added a great deal of value to the purchase and use of my Garmin 660.

Reporting the error in location, the typo was understandable, I knew the Wal-Mart in question wasn't in or near Coedo, Spain...

The coordinate format although important can be converted, the incorrect format can't be used in the poi. I can convert them and I recognize the different formats....

I don't know if this has been asked before, but I'm wondering if there is a way to find the Wal-Mart and Sam's stores that have gas stations. I am planning a trip and a POI with just the gas info would be a great help in keeping the fuel budget down a bit.

hello, I'm currious how both Walmart files are the same size. IE., Supercenter walmarts and Walmarts, Sams Clubs, walmarts file both are 324kb.

I uploaded the same file to both locations, I noticed the error and thought I corrected it but this a.m. it was brought to my attention that they were both supercenter pois. It has been corrected.

I just u/l a file (Wal-Mart_Gas.csv), that I have indicated ALL the Sam's gas stations and a bunch of the Wal-Mart stations. The source file I used is Wal-Mart_US.csv. I used the column with the store number and added GAS if it had a station. Sam’s and Murphy have a web site that lists all their stations. I have written to Wal-Mart corporate office and have asked for a list of all the Wal-Mart station locations. Don’t know if I will get a reply, but in the mean time, I will keep plugging in zip codes to get the locations.

Ask and ye shall receive or something like that.. I need someone to keep an eye on what I do now I have two or is it four eyes or.........

Just an update on my effort to get information out of Wal-Mart corporate office about their gas station locations. I received an email that said they had no way of getting that information and thanks for being a Wal-Mart shopper, and contacting customer support. I find it very hard to believe that Wal-Mart doesn't know what stores are selling gas. That's like saying that they don't know where all their stores are located...LOL. Oh well, I guess that's the corporate way.

Will you double check your coordinates? How did you get them? The latest file has coordinates supplied to me by black_gnome who lives in Wayne, WV. He assured me that the store could be found with the existing coordinates, and although I can't really see it on google earth, the location is in Wayne, WV, while your coordinates are at least a mile away from the town. According to Wal-Marts store finder's map which is virtually useless because streets and names aren't provided on any maps I have tried.

This location is off by about 1 mile too far West. The actual location is:

Google Earth shows that location to be in a lake.

Would you like me to send you a screen shot of where I was and where the POI file says WalMart is located? When I was in front of the WalMart I check the coordinates with my Nuvi and that's what it said. Just give me an email so I can send you the screen shots.

They are down the street from the wal-mart store map, but if you know the area that is what I'm going with... Thank's for taking the time to look it up... The file has been submitted with those coordinates...
