I would like to find out why when I downloaded bestbuy alert it does not alert me when I arrive at bestbuy. I downloaded an icon for bestbuy and that worked fine. Can someone help me out with this one? Thanks.

It seems like there aren't any kudos given to the red light cameras file, and I just wanted to tell a brief success story.

I was driving around and my c550 started beeping at me. Across the top of the screen was a red bar that said something like "warning 1mph".

Seems like it was telling me I was driving over the speed limit in a 1mph zone (the zone was 25 or 30).

Can someone explain this to me?

I was going to use Allway Sync which is a great program that provides synchronized updates. ie The file is not updated if there have been no change.

However on my nuvi 750 2303 of the 2475 files have no date. And of course file date/time are one of the criteria used for determining that the files need to be copied. So as a result Allway Sync thinks 2303 files need to be updated.

I am new to GPS and jus purchased a Nuvi 750. Is there hardware available that will enable my 750 to pick up traffive warnings? Thank you, Bmckpro

Garmin recommends 4gb SD card. I thought of getting an 8gb SD card because i need more space to load all my songs in it.

when I turn on my unit it starts to load maps then a warning screen pops up - regarding loading info while driving etc - then the need to press the "I agree" button.

Can this be disabled?

I have an original Garmin USB to Mini cable for connecting to the PC. It puts the nuvi in mass storage mode, and I use it for loading POIs and the WebUpdater.

I have a couple of USB to Mini cables that appear the same as Garmin's but are for some other devices. The big noticable difference is the 'filter' or cylinder is missing from these cables.

Still a bit confused.

I have a nuvi650 with 2008 NT maps preloaded - will be getting the 2008 DVD in the mail soon.

1) Is the unlock code that came on the yellow sheet needed to install and run the DVD mapsource program on my computer or is it needed to connect my GPS unit and use it with the mapsource program on my computer?

Did anybody try to create ( and put it back) Nuvi drive image file using Ghost program or other imaging software?

I've searched POIF for this topic but did not find any posts.

1. What is the difference between a .gsx and a .csv file?
2. Why would you use one over the other?

I think the answer to question #1 may answer question #2.

I looked around a bit, and it didn't seem like this question has been asked before...

I just got my first GPSr, an Etrex Venture HC. It has a screen called "Highway" that seems to be pretty much useless unless you're navigating (a route or just to another point). It doesn't show any map data, at least not from the basemap or the map I made from OSM data.

any pictures of how people are mounting their nuvi?

Hey, I just bought a Streetpilot, and the map is at least a year out of date. Do you get a map update when you register the unit or do I have to buy an update?

I am a nuvi 750 user. I find one location saved in favorites which shows latitude and longitude under the saved name for example "001". I dont know how does it happen and can somebody tell me about it and teach me how to do that again?

When using the "FIND" feature to search for a particular city, the search results show EVERY place name, no matter how big or small. What's worse, the small, lightly populated places show up first in the list. Is there a way to exclude the small places? Also, is there a way to have the results sort by distance?

(BTW, I have a Street Pilot 2730.)

I'd like to share my way of mounting solution.

As you can see on a pictures i have modified Garmin's mounting for Nuvi 750 and i believe it could be done for any GPS, Thinkpad etc.

Somebody broke into my car a few days ago and swiped my radar detector and the power cable for the Nuvi 350. (Which was in the house...awww..too bad.) Can anyone tell me where I can get the equivalent cheap? The factory cable is 28 bucks. It looks like a standard piece, like a car cell phone type of cable.
