Garmin talk

I've noticed that if I have my 1490T use a multi-point route that I've pre-programmed into the device, the speed indicator on the lower right hand side of the screen is initially frozen at zero. I've also caught it frozen at a fixed non-zero speed. I've never seen this happen in the more common single-destination routing mode.

I have two 3790T's and just discovered a problem. You cannot, as in previous units, upload your own speed control files and then activate them and deactivate the Garmin file under the PROXIMITY icon. In the 3790T when you upload your file and try to activate and then hit SAVE. the unit will always default back to the GARMIN file.

If this has already been posted then apologies in advance. I just updated my Nuvi 750 with 2011.10, NuMaps Lifetime. Unless I did the update differently, did Garmin change the software. The procedure was different, three steps, and the update was completed approx 2 hours quicker than the last time I updated.

In all of my reading about the 1490T before I purchased it, I had not come across, or it had not registered, that the unit automatically records bread crumbs. I downloaded my "current.gpx file and opened it in Google Earth yesterday and found my track log displayed. Of course it shows the same thing when imported into Map Source, and also shows the actual "crumbs" there.

I have a Garmin 1300 and was wondering what size (memory) SD card it supports or would be advisable to purchase?

Is it possible to add categories and symbols to a file and then have it opened in Mapsource. I would like to globally edit a number of POIs outside of MapSource.

Just exploring the file structure on my new 1490T and in the GPX folder I found a number of gpx files, but one with the extension lpt has me confused.

Its name is a number and the only thing in the file (when I open it in Notepad) is another number.

What is this file and what is it used for?

same plug as my new garmin.

Does anyone know if these are interchangeable ?

I updated the Nuvi 1390T with that latest patch from Garmin using the Garmin web updater today. And now i noticed all my favorites seems to get jumbled , So I wanted to remove my favorites off my Garmin 1390T. I deleted them, then I plugged it in to the PC and removed the GPX files, But the Catagories I created are still in there when I edit a favorite.

Just purchased a new 1690 and found it only holes 999 POI in "favorites". Can I load all POIs on a microSD chip and use it that way.

hi all, as i was installing my already paid for 2010 map upgrade to my nuvi, just before the install was complete, my computer crashed and although it is up and running, my 265 is far from it.it only has the dashboard function working and when you go looking for an address it pops up with no data available.

Is these two poi files can use same loader

Purchased Nuvi 275T with 2 maps Europe & US
I updated (for free) Europe map this installed MapSource on my Pc - can now view Europe map on PC.
I want to view US map on PC - Mapsource says "product not installed" but it has same 25 char code as shown on myGarmin > installed maps.
How do I get this map loaded onto the PC?

I downloaded all the POI files into one folder on my computer....named my .csv files, BMP icons and sound files all the exact same name. I then used the Garmin loader to put them in to my GPS.....at first I got missing sox.exe errors and "could not convert wav file" errors on every single sound file.

I recently went to the top of Pike's Peak via the cog railway system. I took my Garmin eTrex Vista with me to track the route. I noticed that whenever there was a sign indicating the elevation, it didn't jibe with the Garmin. At the top, the sign said something like 14,400 and the garmin said 13,800. Why the difference?

In addition to the v4.40 released for the 13xx & 14xx series, the 12xx series update v4.40 has also been released. Use WebUpdater to update your unit.

Anyone love their Garmin and what model is it if you do?

Just ran webupdater and it found a new software update version 4.40 for my Nuvi 1350t. Probably they just released it because within their website it didn't list that version. I just updated mine, I'll find out how it goes when I drive home from work today.

Just picked up a refurb Garmin Nuvi 1490T from amazon (one ninety shipped), and wondered how far behind it's software versions are? I'm trying to determine whether I should wait till the end of my 60 day term to (hopefully) get the most current map update. Should I be concerned that the 1490T will malfunction after updating, and should therefore do it now, in case of an exchange being needed?
