Garmin talk

So yesterday we were getting in the car and I discovered the Cigarette lighter Power/FM Receiver Cable connection that connects to the Windshield Suction Mount.... At that windshield connector, the wiring had pulled out of the socket and was twisting in the wind... so to speak...

I'm not sure if this question has been asked regarding the nuvi 3597. Certain roads beginning with examples like Loop xx or Spur xx (the way the actual road signs read) display on the 3597 as xx-Loop or xx-Spur. Is that a feature of the maps themselves or a bug that might need to be looked at?

Any insight would be appreciated.

I just found out that Garmin maps (Europe in particular) are released in a new format call NTU (Unicode...)

That may have already been addressed in this forum but I can find any reference to it. What the difference with the regular NT format?

Just for some reference and explanation of why the GPS did not perform as I wanted it to (75% my fault).

Does anybody know how to convert an xls file to a gpx file for an apple pc? I just purchased a Garmin Nuvi 2797 that I was instructed to do so by my Assistant District Manager for Prospecting potential clients. I am having a really hard time finding any POI Software that is free and compatible for use with an apple computer.

I have the Garmin NUVI2555LMT and my experience is with setting Custom Avoidances with this model. I assume that other models use a similar process, so I would appreciate any feedback if you have a different procedure with your model.

Not sure if this is deal worthy enough to post.... At least for me it seemed inexpensive enough to bite and finally replace my nuvi dinosaurs that refuse to die. Most likely they will become "backup GPS units" should these new ones get stolen, misplaced or bite the dust.

I just got a Nuvi 2595. When I was testing in familiar route, it asks me to get out of the Highway on every exit. There are no avoidance in the route I was going. Any of the suggested routes is not "fastest" or "shortest". The next day It doesn't give those directions.

Anybody faced these issue in Nuvi 2595?

Given the increased amount of information available on more recent Garmin Nuvi navigators, has the 5" Nuvi screen become obsolete? I'm not only referring to the ever more common split screen "photo realistic" exit view, but also increased map detail information, increasing on-screen data dashboards, LT info etc.

Garmin Express version 3.2.1.6 got released. Just updated it.

I recently noticed that my Garmin 2798LMT GPS had a very large optional English language update available ~ 565 MB. Upon calling Garmin, they couldn't really explain what it contained other than voice enhancements for the voice recognition. Has anyone installed this and has anyone noticed any improvements in this?

Just got the Garmin 2577 because I'm going to UK for a vacation and then plan to use it in USA from there on.
Can't get lifetime maps with 2577.
Is that a big disadvantage?
It came with Europe maps for about $30 more than the US only with lifetime.

I recently purchased the City Navigator Europe NT map on a microSD/SD card (SanDisk 4GB microSDHC), but my nuvi 260w isn't reading the card. With the card inserted, when i go to tools-->settings-->maps-->info, the Europe map isn't listed as an option.

Has anyone else noticed their NAVTEQ traffic subscription seems to have gone missing on their Nuvi?

Hi, i was trying to format the SD and i made a mistake and formatted the Garmin Nuvi50. I tried Recuva but i couldnt see the gps on the list of device. Someone could help me please?
