Lost my maps, so came home after my trip (only discovered it not working on the trip, so useless) and have spent all afternoon trying to get this done.
How can I start over and download the 2015.20 map? I have done it several ltimes with no errors, but the Zumo 550 on booting, will not respond to any screen hits? I can page through some screens, but no interaction.
Tried Garmin Express first, then Basecamp, then Mapinstall. I'm on a macbook pro.

My first post was delayed from yesterday to check for spam. I have removed the 3 map files on the Zumo and currently doing the clone procedure. But even with no maps the Zumo will not interact with screen hits. It does page with the button on left and brings up bluetooth warning that it will not connect without a cradle connection. Hangs in that screen until I page with the button.
On screen interaction the button lights up, but nothing happens, Alternates between lighting the Where to now and Map screen choice, but cannot choose either one.
Think I have two problems going on. Thing is I have been using the Zumo 550 with 2014 map fine, until I did the download last wednesday (8-20-14).
Assuming your Zumo has Lifetime Maps, load Garmin Express and pay attention to the install options. Garmin Express will automatically download the latest maps.
If you don't have lifetime maps or a backup of what came on your unit, you are hurting as Garmin doesn't have old maps available and maps are tied to a unit.
I do have lifetime maps. My unit was working fine, just happened to plug it into computer before I left on trip and it advised 2015 maps available so I downloaded the maps, but did not discover that they were not actually on until I tried to start a route while riding. Was unable to use the unit other than for speed so took it off till I returned home yesterday.
It appears I was able to load a region using mapupdate but even tho it appears the map is there, I can't move it around, no screen interaction for screen touch. Guess I just had a device failure right at the same time I had no maps after update.
Have you tried a hard reset?
I'm on my second Zumo 550, I got the second from Garmin as a buy back for an out of warranty unit that was acting up. They took the old one and sold me another (refurbished) for $100.
If I remember correctly lifetime maps (LTM) was not offered when you bought a 550 but you could purchase it afterwards. I did buy the LTM for the original and Garmin transferred it to the second for me. So unless LTM was purchased separately more than likely the OP doesn't have it.
The most recent update I did on my 550 was the 2015.10 update. For all of North America to fit on the unit the maps had to be split between the unit and an SD card, which I did do via Garmin Express and Basecamp and all seems to work fine.
I can't find the Garmin page I used to make the switch. Maybe if you email them, tiger-one, you can make the same deal.
I have not tried the RESET?
I am original owner of the Zumo 550 and purchased the LTM afterwards.
How do I contact Garmin for the zumo 550 exchange or purchase refurbished?

Just tried master reset, touch botom right screen while powering on. Does not work as the screen input does not work. Second try it appears to have reset.
Gives Select a locale; United States is show but I can not arrow left or right, they light when I touch but nothing happens. OK button at bottom lights when I touch but nothing happens.
Went into calibrate screen mode, First dot is upper center, touch but nothing happens. Guess my screen touch died.
Touch screen worked okay mounted on bike couple of days ago before I removed the GPS and put it up till I got home? Strange to loose screen during period of no maps after 2015 update.
Think this is my last Garmin for sure. Experimenting with Galaxy and Copilot along with OSmand. Thanks for helping
Are you using the battery or a mount to power up right now? If using a mount maybe the contacts got dirty, (or maybe bent) try cleaning them?
