GPS learning

My 3790 has the learning capability to track driving habits.

Where I live we have a sometimes 16 lane highway, 8 each direcction going across town.

There are the express lanes with much fewer exits. When I go 20 miles across the city I take the Express since I do not want to be in the slower collectors with in and out traffic.

It seems that it takes the damn 3790 a couple of months until it stops wanting to redirect me to the slower lanes.

Then when I update to the newest map it starts all over again.

Is that learning or already learned ability removed with the new updates???

Is there a particular file I should maybe copy before an update and paste after the update?

A similar Question

.... was raised in a previous post with no definite answer.

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/32735

Garmin support indicates that the “Traffic Trends” data is provided by the map updates.
https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?...

The “My Trends” information is related to stored favorites. It does not specifically state that accrued data is saved in that directory though.
https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?...

Both these features are related and in combination, appear to affect routing. Saving just your favorites may not work since the “Traffic Trends” component is replaced during a map update. Extracting that data from the old map file and installing it in the update would be difficult.

I realize this doesn't answer your question but merely sheds some light on the process. Maybe other factory members with hands on experience with the 3790 can offer a solution.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply and looking up the old thread.

I had the Trends set, but maybe when updating the map it removes that. Have to check the GPS and see what is checked off.

some forgetting here

I've definitely seen my 3790 start recommending my preferred routing for frequently taken trips, only later to stop. I'd not noticed the forgetting to be associated with map updates,, but it is plausible.

Sorry I'm getting rather than giving information here.

Thanks.
