Black flag icon along route?

If/when I set a route there are the occasional black flag icons along the route. What are they supposed to represent?

Black Flag

What do you mean by a black flag? Is it just a symbol on the map as you're going along the route? My guess is it's the map symbol for a favorite or favorites saved in the unit.

In Ireland and the UK there are signs with a big black solid dot/circle, saying "Black Spot". Such a sign marks a known road traffic accident prone location.

Black flag

This "icon" has a black triangular flag, similar to what you might see on a golf course in a shaded grey circle. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. Frequently at a sharp turn/cross road but if one zooms in the flag is not located right at the corner.

I've seen them too

I've seen them on my DriveLuxe 51 as well. I read on some thread here suggesting that it's marking a location identified by Real Direction:

The very limited number of times I've seen the black flag on a route was when there was a building being identified by Real Directions as an aid to perform an upcoming turn.

I'm now watching for black flags more carefully in case I need to revise my thoughts.

Hmmmm...

I thought Black Flag came in a spray can.. used to eradicate unwanted bugs..
