OverDryve 7 RV - can import POIs but cant find away to add/view on Map

I have the RM OverDryve 7 RV with GPS. I was able to create the "Import POI" folder following the instructions here http://www.poi-factory.com/node/47440 and was able to import POIs. The OverDryve says import successful - imported to "Custom POI".

But there is no "manage Custom POIs" in the Navigation preferences/setup.

It should be in the Navigation App at "Preferences" > "My Custom POIs" (general) > "Manage Custom POIs" according to the instructions in the link above, but I don't have this "My Custom POIs", so I can't turn them on to view on the Map.

Does anyone know how to solve (add "My Custom POI" to the RM setup/preferences menu?

General Preferences?

I don't have the OverDryve 7 RV model, but from the manual it looks like it should show up under General Preferences between the settings for "Day / Night Mode" and "Screen Click".

If it's not there, you might try rebooting the device and checking again. (Hold the power button for 3 seconds and then touch power off; then power back on.)

I discovered that if I

I discovered that if I switch the Navigation/map Skin Type from "Modern" to "Classic", then click on the settings icon>Destination>Points Of Interest, it will show the "Custom POI" icon, where I can see the new POIs loaded.

I don't know yet if these will now display on the Map or not. I need to go out and drive around. i assume they will show (there is no "POI icon On/Off" switch for the Custom POIs.

Skins

Thanks for sharing the tip regarding classic skin. I've added a note to the instruction page.

Adding Custom POI bmp

My last step now is to add a matching BMP icon for each of the Custom POIs added.

The custom POIs I just added only have a colored "thumbtack" icon now.

I have a 24x24 bmp file for each of the POIs which I have given the same file name as the POI.csv file, but I don't know where to upload it to. It doesn't do anything (doesn't get used) when I place it in the ImportPOI folder.

What folder does the RM OverDryve 7 use to store its BMPs?

Rand McNally Icons

As far as I know, Rand McNally models are only able to use icons that are built into the GPS. There are several thumbtack colors and about 50 other icon choices. But unfortunately it seems you're not able to reach the "Manage Custom POIs" page on your particular GPS model, which is where icons are selected.

How do you turn the alerts on for custom POI's?

I have installed the POI's successfully and can see them on the menu but when I drive by a Walmart store I do not receive an alert. Please help me solve this issue. I love the Overdryve GPS but a little frustrated that this unit does not work as well as my unit with the docking software. Bummer

Try Simulate Mode

On my Zumo 595 I made a short trip that passes known speed and camera POI's with Basecamp and loaded those onto my GPS. I set it to run with the GPS Simulator and inserted the GPS on the bike mount so I could hear the warnings. That works for telling you if the icon and warning both work.

RM OVerdryve 7 RV

OK. I have the custom POI's showing up on my nav map but I am not getting any alerts like I did on my other RV GPS. Anybody have a help for restoring the alert voice navigation for custom POI's?
