Just found an Easter E in the Folders on my 3597 Want check and see if your unit really is a Refurb or new? Connect it to your computer and open the folders. Select Garmin> Diagnostics> GarminOS.log. Double click or right click and choose Open the log file. At the top of the list is the oldest entry, at the bottom the newest entry.
On mine the first four entries are from 2024. No, that's no a typo. 2024/01/01. The next four tries are from 2016/04/01 and 02. Then the next set of entries are from 2016/10/13, which is the date I received it.

You can also see all maps downloaded onto the unit including those of a previous owner through mygarmin.com and then clicking on the tab Manage Maps.
