Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – October 2016

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Last Use

I used my GPS last week to get home from a location on the east end of Long Island. Unfortunately I actually listened to the GPS rather than follow the route I knew (I was using the GPS to see if there was a better route). So I wound up getting a long detour through parts of Long Island I had never seen before but adding about 45 minutes to my trip due to traffic. I should always trust my knowledge before going to the GPS.

Three Week Florida Road Trip

I just got back from a three week long Florida road trip I took covering outdoor fishing and nature photojournalism related stories. My trip took me from my base in Lakeland to Jensen Beach, back across the state to Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Then it was down to Naples and Marco Island then back to Captiva and Fort Myers and finally up the central spine through Punta Gorda and Arcadia for the Peace River/Charlotte Harbor Estuary.

My trusty Garmin Nuvi loaded with POI's from this site came in handy numerous times on a daily basis. Everything from finding my bank locations, to Wal-greens, Publix, etc. and the Boat Ramps POI. Oh, and the Red Light Camera file sure comes in handy too!

Down Rigging

Drove over to Chestertown,MD to visit the city's Down Rigging event. Five or six multi-mast ships. Not a lot to see, but ride over and back was great top-down weather. Won't have many more like it this year.
