nuvi 2689 where is favorites file

My nuvi 2689 recently decided to have "Home" about 3 to 4 miles from where it originally was. I didn't do anything to the device just did some return travel from Long Island. It worked fine for several days of navigation and knew exactly where I was on the return trip, just didn't take me to the previously defined “Home” destination.

I've restored my favorites using Garmin Express and I'll be able to test tomorrow but I'd like to know where the file (if any) resides on the actual device.

Favorites

I think the Favorites (Saved Places) file is in a protected location in the Garmin GPS device and can not be viewed by a connected computer. Others will correct me if my memory is incorrect. razz

Luckily, as you've found, Garmin Express software can save a device's Favorites and copy them back to the same or a different GPS device.

Go home

Thanks.

I suspect the “Go Home“ menu option keeps its location apart from favorites. I did a restore of favorites that was several months old and again it took me to a location 3 to 4 miles from what I’ve defined as home. Everything in the way of “Saved” otherwise seemed normal so I just redefined my “Home” location.

Go Home

I also have a Nuvi 2689. I've never had the "home" location moved, but twice have had other waypoints moved. I have no idea why!

Location of favorites or saved places

If you connect your GPS to your computer and open the Garmin Nuvi file on the GPS, then look for the GPX file and click on it. You will see current GPX file. That is the location of saved or favorites . I use Extra POI Loader to open the GPX file.
