Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – April 2016

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Updated the POIs and...

put the GPS on the dash for the DW. She went to Sedona to meet up with new daughter-in-law and her mom. Kind of a girls get to "know each other" weekend. The three of them will have fun, and poor me, I'm a "bachelor" for the weekend smile

US trip

Just back from a 2 week trip in the US, drove from DC to Florida and back, taking in areas like the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, Savannah and Orlando en route.

Routes had been created in BaseCamp for each day prior to leaving the UK and sent to my 2508. All worked like a charm, just as well as I hadn't bothered with a paper map although I did have my older 1490 as a back up just in case smile

Gettysburg, PA

Short camping trip from D.C. to Gettysburg, PA last weekend in the RV with my new Garmin RV660LMT.

Plugged in the RV's GVWR and was able to notice correct routing to avoid bridge & road restrictions. Also liked the sharp curve & narrow road warnings; they were accurate but unobtrusive with a "ding" and a small banner at the top of the screen.

I thought I was going to send it back and go with a Rand McNally for better camera flexibility but neither is optimal for a RV, imo. Garmin seems to have done a nicer job with routing on this model compared to my 765T. Routing is faster, better, includes on-the-fly manual avoidances, recalculates quicker and with no annoying "Recalculating" voice and fewer attempts to keep the original route before realizing you're not having it, lol.

Traffic also seems more complete than with the 765T, even though both are just the non-subscription FM versions. Traffic receiver on the 660 is in the unit itself, while the 765T used the special power cable.

I'm happy so far. (Fingers crossed).

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

Casino Buffets

Using the Garmin to get me to the various casino buffets in Las Vegas. I have many 1/2 off coupons to use. The rule is only to eat at the casinos, and not gamble!

Dive shop

To my dive shop across town for an evening class. The Garmin traffic feature worked great updating me the ETA.

Myrtle Beach, Wilmington, Charleston

A week in Myrtle Beach. A day in Wilmington, NC first. Toured USS North Carolina.

Two days after in Charleston, SC. Toured Boone Hall Plantation, Downtown Charleston, and Charleston Tea Plantation.

Absolutely love driving through WV. Locked the cruise at 72 mph and just drove. The winding road and up and down the mountains was actually relaxing.
