map update 2017.2 out yet?

I'm hoping after Memorial Day as the New, long awaited By-pass around Goldsboro, NC should be open by then.................

I wouldn't update just before a trip

...this road on the update. I just checked and Here.com is showing the road under construction. What is shown on the website is the map that will be updated. However, since this is a major road it may hit the next map update whenever it is released. We had a major state road re-alignment where I live and it took about two updates before it finally hit and it took another one before they got the road correctly named. (We had a couple of subdivisions open new roads about 7-8 months ago. They are now showing on the map that is currently on Here.com. They were not on the last update.)

A May update would be timely for me.

I did not know it would be June.

I guess we will see.

Release Date History for Garmin Maps

It used to be somewhat predictable, especially when Garmin was publishing the manifest a couple of weeks before the release. But this past year, with Garmin reducing the number of updates per year from "up to four" to "up to three", no longer publishing the manifest, complete inconsistency on version numbering, and for Europe, the unknown NT/NTU version skipping ... who knows any more? It has always just been a guess at best, but now more so than ever. I suspect Garmin didn't appreciate our prediction/anticipation/expectation of map release dates, because we complained if the map did not show up when we expected it. So now they are happy to keep us in the dark.

I'm guessing it will be available on Wednesday, April 27th. If not, it will be available on some other day...

Garmin messed up the last time by releasing the map before we even started a "watch thread". They're going to punish us for that. Next update: 1/22/17

On a related note, every time I start up Garmin Express I notice another 1 minute update to the time zone map. Do they change that often?

Did my 2797 yeasterday and it took almost 4 hours. Installed to computer and device.
Next did my 855 and it took just over 1 hour.

Did my installing it to the computer speed up the 855 ?

First download would have installed the map files to your PC, so they wouldn't have been needed to be downloaded again for your 855.

Note this happens whether you choose to download to computer or not. The 'download to computer' option is for files for BaseCamp or MapSource to use.

Thanks. I always use the to device and computer since I use Basecamp? and Mapsource.

Actually I think that for updating different devices with this same map you have to check box "Leave installation files on computer" or something to this meaning. This will keep downloaded from Garmin files for use with another device. Installing maps on computer will required to use Map Installer to transfer maps from Basecamp or MapSource to device.

Note, that how it works with MapUpdater. I'm not sure how it's organized in Express.
