Garmin StreetPilot Onboard

I know that this has been discussed in the past, but I haven't seen anything just recently on this topic. For those that still use Garmin StreetPilot Onboard, how well is it working these days? Is Garmin good about sending out map updates in a timely fashion?

I have been a long time Android guy and I still like my Motororla Droid Turbo 2 just fine, but I am tempted to get an Apple iPhone for Verizon, since I already have Verizon and those will also work on AT&T and T-Mobile. Then I would get the Garmin StreetPilot Onboard for either just the United States or possibly all of North America.

The other app I want is Sony PlayStation Vue, since it will work on Apple, but not on Android yet. I will also connect it to my SlingBox PRO HD with component or composite cables for watching content on other devices.

Anyway, lets hear it from the Garmin StreetPilot Onboard users. How well is it working these days?

Can't tell you about the Garmin app...

Navigon has been good to me...and it too is a Garmin app...

Garmin StreetPilot OnBoard has replaced my GPSr

I've been using Garmin StreetPilot OnBoard for a long time, and it has replaced the use of a GPSr for most of my GPS/nav needs. I sold my Montana because I prefer GSO. I use my GPSMAP64s for outdoors where weather resistance is needed. Plus the integration of GSO and cell system is even better. The maps are kept up to date, I've never had a problem with that. It's been a while since the last update, so something should be coming out soon. I'm running GSO on an iPhone 6, and I like it very much.

Diesel,

Thank you very much for the reply. That is what I need to know.

Anything in particular you are looking for?

Jim1348, is there anything in particular (features, capabilities, etc.) you are looking for?

I'll let you know if GSO has that feature/capability.

I just want to make sure that it is working like it is supposed to work and getting map updates in a timely fashion. For example, when the map updates are announced for Garmin City Navigator, how soon after that are the updates available for Garmin StreetPilot Onboard? Part of me is "gun-shy" because Garmin sort of pulled the rug out from under Viago. The flip side is, I have Viago and can still use it.

I Understand

It works, and it works very good. So much so, I use GSO instead of a Montana that was my primary GPSr, and sold the Montana.

Map updates follow some time after CN. I'm not sure exactly, I have never had a map issue to look forward to an update.

I do not think that Garmin will "pull the rug out" from under GSO. It's a good product.

Get $300 Off Any Verizon Phone Over $400 With This Code

http://www.droid-life.com/2016/06/16/deal-get-300-off-verizo...

While I really don't need another smartphone, I just read about this offer this afternoon. While Garmin StreetPilot OnBoard isn't the only reason that I would get this, it is one of them. The other one is I canceled DISH Network several months ago. We are now using Sony PlayStation Vue. It is not on any Android smartphones and I miss hearing the audio portion of a certain program that I like.

Sony PlayStation Vue does work with Apple iPhone, however. It is sort of a silly reason to spring for an iPhone, but with the $300 off deal, it makes a 64 GB Apple iPhone SE a little bit easier to afford.

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up.
