BMP Icon Discussion

I sent you my email addy, I have been talking to Jon about making it possible to submit bmp icons the same way you would a csv or gpx file. I am not sure when it can be added because our main focus is on database improvement right now.

I am more than willing to assist in making Icons as well. I teach PhotoShop, so these are pretty easy for me to bang out.

It's the least I can to ... try to contribute to this great 'community' in some way! I am new to this gps world and still not so proficient at producing POI files ... but, I'll get there too!!

I made 3 quick Beagle Icons. I will e-mail them to Miss POI so that she can post if anyone else is interested in these.

gdfaini / Miss POI - what "Metro" Icon are you looking for?

Specifically, I was looking for the Washington Metro icon, but the NYC one would be cool too.

I have e-mailed Wash. DC Metro, NYC MTA and a Navy Federal icon to Miss POI.

Feel free to send me an e-mail (contact thru my profile) if you want me to e-mail these to you.

(edit) : I just added the Philly Septa, Chicago CTA, and the San Fran area BART logos to the list of icons that Miss POI now has.

Those of you breathlessly waiting for the bmp to accompany the new ACBL Duplicate bridge Clubs - US file will get relief soon as I have emailed the image to the eminent Miss Poi.

If you have submitted a BMP Icon in the last few weeks and it has not been added yet I apologize for the delay. Things are pretty busy here at the POI Factory and as the traffic to the site grows, and the amount of work to be done grows, the number of staff does not. There are still only 2 of us doing all the behind the scenes work.

I created a Metro icon yesterday, and will submit it soon. Actually, I created multiple icons - one for each line. I also created separate icons for stations that serve multiple lines (the blue & orange and green & yellow stations in downtown DC, the blue & yellow stations in Arlington/Alexandria, Metro Center, Gallery Pl-Chinatown, Fort Totten, and L'Enfant Plaza).

I made some soccer goals for you, 6 to choose from. You'll have to see which you prefer. I don't want to send all six to Miss POI if they don't work for ya.

If you prefer a soccer "field" as you requested, green with white center circle/goal box etc I could try that. Not sure how that would turn out in a 24x24 size though.

I just used the new icon for the National Parks and the also the one for the Cracker Barrel.Followed the instructions on the faq and feed back on this forum and had no problems.Had no idea that this could even be done until I found this sight.I have just started out and have discovered a lot of new ideas to make the my gps unit more in line with my preference.Thanks for the information.

I notice that the built in Garmin POI icons don't all display as a square graphic. For example, the Red Lobster icon shows just as a lobster shape, not as a lobster on a square background.

Does anyone know if you can do this with uploaded bmps? I tried using the background eraser in Paint Shop, but the background of the icon still showed as white on the garmin.

Any ideas?
