Have been using the new Chromecast for about a month now. Really happy with it so far. Adds a lot to a regular TV. TV programs
I have read about it and it sounds great.
It is nice when you miss a TV program then go back to the computer and stream it to the TV.Most stations have videos available the next day for popular series.

I bought a chromecast when
I bought a chromecast when it first came out and rooted it.
Modified operating systems are available to completely bypass Google's "white list" which prevents using apps which will allow playing local movie files on your phone to your TV via the chromecast.
Naturally, Google soon modified their newer chromecasts to lock down the device to prevent rooting.
I went months and months without using the chromecast because the only function I purchased it for was quickly disabled by google. But, then eventually the development community fixed it (only for rooted Chromecasts)
