Agree about Express.

Garmin is going to push this down our throats...we may as well get used to it. After applying the latest update to my 3597, when I rebooted I got a splash screen reminding me to install Express. Also, there is now an "Updates" item on the Settings menu (first item on the menu no doubt) that is nothing more than a "help" document about installing and using Express.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the 2015.10 map update. My guess is that MapUpdater will no longer work.

The current GarminMapUpdater may not work with the 2015.10 map update, but it wouldn't surprise me that when folks start reporting to Garmin that Garmin Express won't update their maps, a new version of GarminMapUpdater will come out with little to no fanfare, and Garmin's Tech Support will quietly direct folks with a failed GE update attempt to try the new GMU.

Also, if recent past results are indicative of future results, reports made here at The Factory regarding updating software issues will be the most up-to-date and most correct, even better than what Garmin's Support Group has to offer, at least for a period of time shortly after the next map update is issued. Garmin, prove me wrong--please...

Updated

With GE and all went fine on my 2797

The only thing I could determine that had been changed was the addition of advertising for Garmin Express.
