Welcome to the site.

Before getting too deeply into a problem posted by someone new to the site (in your case a problem finding your "Current.gpx" file), we usually recommend the following. I suspect that you have a "settings" problem that is not letting you see what you are expecting to find.

There is a "Learn" button in the upper right of this page next to "red light cameras" that takes you to a Getting Started page. It is worthwhile visiting this page.

To make navigation easy, most browsers provide the following option. When you want to follow a link - but still keep your current page open - you can hold down the "Ctrl" key as you left-click on a link. That action will open a new "Tab" in your browser up on the "Tab" bar. When you then left-click on that new "Tab", you will follow the link - leaving the "Tab" you are now reading open and available to click on and return here.

So, using the "Learn" link, you might try the "Ctrl" - left-click sequence and then return here. You can return by either "X-ing" out of the "Getting Started" page (using the "X" on the "Tab" itself) or just left-clicking on the "Tab" for the page you are on right now.

Since you are new here, I encourage you to go through a couple of the Tutorials.

The first link makes sure the settings on your computer are such that you can do more advanced POI loading.
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30393

The next link helps you make a backup of your GPS by attaching it to your computer. (NEVER do anything to your GPS until you have a backup). It also assures that you put your (newer) unit into a state where you can see all of the folders there.
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30394

Now, I do not have a 660, but I am assuming it has a similar file structure to my 765. I get to my "Current.gpx" by looking in the [nuvi]/Garmin/GPX folder.

If you are using Win 7 and up, you can "Search" for the file "Current.gpx" by entering "Current.gpx" (without the quotes) into the search box in the upper right corner of the Win Explorer screen. On Vista you would do the search by clicking on the Search tab in explorer and entering the file name.

Let us know how we can help you enjoy your GPS.

That's An Odd Issue

Good given in member jgermann's post.
Please read the tutorials and most importantly backup all your files on the Nuvi. If not, someday you may regret not doing so.

After backing up and checking your settings you may want to try a master reset (hard reset), that is known to cure many a problem.
Read about it here:

Does your 660 display any favorite files?

Does the "GarminExpressImport" end with a .GPX extension?

I've never owned a Nuvi that didn't have a current.gpx file. It resides in protected internal memory and is recreated on each boot. Even if you delete it accidentally it will reappear on the next boot.

Glad muell9k weighed in with the fact that it is created anew every boot from an "off" state.

Unless ...

Unless of course, there is insufficient memory available to create it; a distinct possibility on a nuvi 660. Check the free space on your device. If you have very little free space, try deleting some unused voice files or vehicle files, then reboot.

Good thought alandb, that too is a very legitimate possibility which I never considered.

Learning per jgerman

Thank-you; I've spent hours on this problem. I followed everything you said step by step. Great instructions. I was able to see that my computer settings needed to show file extensions and adjusted that. I did another backup. I wrote down my software version. I went thru a number of the learning/instructional topics.

Unfortunately no help yet. My Garmin/GPX folder has 2 things in it, GarminExpressImport.gpx and a file I downloaded from the POI Factory downloads. No current.gpx file. I also did another search for the current.gpx file and nothing comes up. I'm going to continue on and go through the other replies and see if anything helps.

In my research I found some information that says the 660 needs to have coordinates set to hddd.dddddd format and map datum set to WGS-48. I figured out the hddd.dddd format and set that, but can't figure out how to set WGS-48 or check it's setting. Not sure if this is the problem or not.

I downloaded the owner's Manuel and read through it again, nothing I can see that will help.

So, still stuck.....

muell9k

Did the backup again. A hard reset would delete all my favorites wouldn't it? They should be saved in the back up but....I'll read more about it.
Yes, I can see all my years worth of favorites (on the Garmin)
Yes, the GarminExpressImport.gpx has the gpx file extension (and I can see it now).

Hummm, I'll turn it off and start it up to reboot and reconnect to USB and see what I get (again) like another time will change anything...

Garmindevice.xml

I do have the .xml file in the Garmin folder; just no output file? I have the Garmin Express that came with the new Nuvi 54; it doesn't work to transfer files, but the backup feature works. Base camp does not work, Map Install, MapSource also do not work for locating or reading the current.gpx file. POI Loader works for loading files I download from this site, but no go for transfer or reading my current.gpx. I've spend an evening with each of these and no go. This appeared to be the best source of information for figuring this out...

WGS-48?

I believe you mean WGS-84

in summary

Jeff n Julie Trnavsky wrote:

Some great suggestions have been made for things to check. In summary you need to:

1. Determine if there are any favorites on the device by booting it and then selecting Where To then Favorites.

2. Connect the unit to your computer and see how much free space is available. You can do this by checking the properties of the device.

3. Check inside the \Garmin\voices folder for any voices you are never going to use and delete them.

4. Check inside the \Garmin\Text folder and eliminate any help files you won't use.

5. If you did have some favorites stored, they will be written to the current.gpx file when you restart. This is an output only file generated from the favorites stored in the protected memory partition. I believe Alandb stated the file won't be written if the unit lacks enough free space to do so.

6. Any GPX files you have loaded into any folder will be added to the favorites stored in protected memory, so once you have cycled the power, you can delete the GPX files you added. This will also free up some space.

GarminExpressImport.gpx

If I click on this file it opens a program that should be able to send and recieve .gpx files; but ti doesn't work either

don't think so

GarminExpressImport.gpx founds as if it is a file rather than a program. On a PC the file would have an EXE extension if it is a program. You should be able to open that file with either wordpad or notepad if it is a GPX as they are text files with XML tags.

ɐ‾nsǝɹ Just one click away from the end of the Internet

Memory

I should have enough memory; will recheck. It's about 75% last time I checked and I have a 2 gig flash card in that is nearly empty. I had already deleted files I don't use (pictures etc). I'll go over again.

Yes WGS-84

oops

GarminExpressImport.gpx

yes, I guess it's not a program, but it opens an interface window/app thing...

memory

287 mb of internal memory

In Summary

Yes; lots of favorites. Memory up to 448 MB after cleaning, should be plenty of memory. Still no current.gpx file....I'll check my backup files again, should it be there?

Partial success

I found a current.gpx file in my backup folder 2.24 Kb, only one address (home). So is the file not being output? Don't want to do a hard reset until I can save the current file....with the contents I have in my favorites on the internal memory...

search?

Jeff n Julie Trnavsky wrote:

Have you done a "search" for "Current.gpx" when your device is connected as a removable drive (like H:) on your computer? Search the entire drive.

And - thanks for all the reports on what you are doing and have found. It helps us narrow down the problem.

Thanks...

OK, yes I have the device connected as a removable drive, yes I have searched the entire drive. No go, only find the current.gpx in the backup, but it's just one address (home). But the file comes up as an EasyGPS file. The GarminExpressImport.gpx icon opens EasyGPS. Is this stopping the saving of the output file? Or interfering with it? I should be able to remove it and then see what happens... nothing. deleted, opened up favorites on Garmin, turned it off and reconnected it to computer via USB. nothing, just an empty gpx folder

GarminDevice.xlm file, the subroutine that should be writing the output file looks OK to me...

/Specification

Path>Garmin/gpxcurrentGPX

TransferDirection>OutputFromUnit
/File
/DataType

I think I give up for tonight. Tomorrow I can get the new Nuvi 54 and see if I can find the current.gps on it; I saved a favorite on it yesterday. Maybe that will help to know if it's the garmin or the laptop.

Only other thing I can think of is my battery doesn't hold a charge very well, so maybe when the unit shuts down it's not writing the file? I'll try turning on from the vehicle and see if I go through the shut down procedure that helps...

First, I suspect it was late and a mis-type but we are looking for "Current.gpx".

Second, the unit writes "Current.gpx when it boots up.

There is a file called "GarminDevice.xml" on all units. This file contains the information the unit needs to make the unit act according to the choices you have made. It contains data that should look like this

Quote:

<File>

 <Specification>
   <Identifier>
      http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1

Note that what you furnished us is not the same. Please double check to make sure that your "Path" information matches what I have provided.

I have never tried it but I suspect that I might change "Current" in the "Basename" section above to "Whatever" and the unit might write out a "Whatever.gpx" file.

Let us know what you find.

Another Thought

I too picked up on that and have the same results you posted of the GarminDevice.xml entry for current.gpx. I had difficulty copying and pasting in my post so I gave up and didn't post.

I suspect user Jeff n Julie has the correct entry in his file but in his attempt to copy it to his post it appeared as Path>Garmin/gpxcurrentGPX.

@Jeff n Julie
Please confirm your GarminDevice.xml entry matches those that member jgermann has posted.

Have you ever tried to see what favorites you have on your device using Basecamp?

Give this link a look and see if this can help you create a current.gpx file.
https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?...

Just a thought, I'm wondering if you exceeded the 1000 entry limit for waypoints\favorites and it has somehow corrupted the current, gpx file preventing it from loading.

Good thought - maybe clear the Tracks/Trip Log

Whoops, does his device keep /tracks/trips? Can not find anything in manual.

Did find that his max is 500 waypoints\favorites.

I believe there are tracks

Definatly no trips. I can't get in to my 650 to look at anything internal on this because the touch screen is out.

When you go to GarminDevice.xml and do a copy of some portion of it, you will have the XML tags "<", ">", and "/>". (and "tags" is not the right word but I do not know the correct word)

To include them in a thread, what you have to do is replace "<" with "& l t ;" (without the quotes or the blanks) and that character string becomes a "<"

Replace ">" with "& g t ;" (without the quotes or the blanks) and that character string becomes a ">"

To get the indentation I use "& n b s p ;" (without the quotes or the blanks) and that character string becomes a " ". Using several gets me the correct indentation.

OK - now someone tell me how best to type the character strings above without resorting to inserting blanks.

@jgermann

John,
You are correct, the 660 has 500 waypoints\favorites, not the 1000 I posted. I own a 660 and don't even know its specs. redface

Also thank you for the tips on pasting content of the XML file, I didn't have a clue.

I'm really leaning towards Jeff n Julie having too many favorite entries that may have screwed things up.

Since this thread is getting quite lenghty, I'll just post the link again for him to look into Basecamp to see what waypoints\favorites he comes up with and try to back them up to PC. Then we'll need to wait for a response from him.

Review of GarminDevice.xml & Getting somewhere!

GarminDevice.xml, matches what you have posted. I just wasn't able to get the paste to format properly and was getting tired...

However, my gpx folder is not inside the Garmin folder, and I can't move it there because there is a file named gpx inside the garmin folder so I deleted it (saved it first to another location) and rebooted the garmin. Yeah! I have a current.gpx file in the gpx folder and it's about the right size. I checked it out (hey it's even got all my favorites in it!) and not sure what to do with this other gpx file....everything seems to work without it for now.

Yahoo! Thanks for all the help and maybe someday parts of this will help someone else!

Good News

Glad to hear you now have the current.gpx file in the proper folder Garmin\GPX and all favorites are showing.

I would now check out your favorites and make sure they are working properly. Then make a backup copy of the current.gpx file to your PC.

Next rename that copy on the PC to temp.gpx.
Now copy that file to your new Nuvi 54's Garmin\GPX folder. Reboot the Nuvi 54 and confirm you now have all the favorites added to the file. Then delete the temp.gpx file from the Nuvi 54, otherwise you won't be able to delete any of your favorites since each time you reboot it will add those files in the temp.gpx file to the current.gpx file if you leave the temp.gpx file in the folder.

P.S I wouldn't add that backed up copy of that unknown gpx file back to the 660. If all is working leave it alone.

Awesome

Will follow through; the favorites come up still on the 660. I have a cold so can't go out in the rain to get the Nuvi54 today but I will remember to delete the temp file I made from the current.

This has been the most wonderful blog/post experience, interchange. It's hard to start out at ground zero when I thought I had already been over most of it, but it really worked to narrow down the problem. This is the best; you all stuck with me all the way through it!

Thanks and thanks again....I'll be playing with converting csv files next! I see there is lots of guidance on this.

GREAT! , Now help us

I'm sure that several of us would like the details of the "file??" that you backed up and deleted. It might give us some clue as to what happened to you.

What did you have? name, size, etc.

For example, I have on my 765
[nuvi]/Garmin/GPX/
and it contains my "Current.gpx" file.

Also note, you can have a .gpx file literally anywhere on your unit and it will add its data to the unit' internal memory cache and then write out the "Current.gpx" file.

So there you go; what's it all about? I saw CURRENTGPX at the end and thought this might cause a problem...

That's Interesting

Kindly clarify if this gpx.xml file was in the Garmin folder or the Garmin\GPX folder.
It’s important to know for future issue that may occur to other members that experience not having the current.gpx file available.

In my opinion, what this appears to be is that the GarmineDevice.xml was somehow renamed to gpx.xlm and resided in the Garmin folder or Garmin|GPX folder. On a reboot the GarminDevice.xml file recreated itself (as it always does) and the unit booted and functioned normally. This corrupt file caused the Nuvi not to recreate the current.gpx file and it was not visible.
Any other opinions?

The first thing I would do is to delete that corrupt file wherever you copied it to, this prevents any future issues by accidentally copying it back to the Nuvi.

I learn something new all the time on this forum, I never would have thought this scenario could occur.

One last point, your last post was difficult to read since it ran off the page. I see this occasionally on this site. It seems that whenever there is a lengthy string this site will not break it up and it runs off the page. In one of my posts on this thread it too ran off the page but I saw it on the preview.
I discovered the cause was a link I posted that had many characters. I removed the link, then the post displayed properly.

GarminDevice.xml

I seems clear that this is a GarminDevice.xml file.

The question is how did it get renamed.

Was there a GarminDevice.xml file in addition to this file.

Had you been doing anythis in this folder that might have renamed anything?

VERY INTERESTING!!!!

Unable To Reproduce The Problem

Always up for a mental challenge I decided to do an experiment and attempt to reproduce Jeff N Julie's problem with the corrupt gpx.xml file.

First test was to take my GarminDevice, xml file and copy it to my hardrive. Once on the hard drive, I renamed it gpx.xml and copied it back to the Garmin folder. No problem, the Nuvi booted, the current.gpx file was present as were all my favorites.

Second test was same as above but this time I copied into the Garmin\GPX folder. Same results, everything was normal.

Next test showed how stupid I actually am, which bricked my Nuvi 660. What I did was renamed the GarmineDevice.xml file on my hard drive to xml.gpx, then copied it to the Garmin\GPX folder
Rebooted the Nuvi it went to the map screen loading, then went black. I did a hard reset and still failed to boot.

Next I connected to the PC to delete the file and it just froze in the map screen and remained there so the PC wouldn't recognize it and prevented me from deleting the file.

Not to worry, or so I thought. I know the procedure to get into Pre-boot mode and get the PC to recognize it that way. That too failed after attempting numerous times.

Out of desperation I booted in Maintenance mode, on the 660. This is done by holding your finger on upper left hand corner while powering the unit on.
I clicked on the last entry, "Clear Waypoints".
I hit restart and this fixed the problem. It booted normally and the PC recognized it. Looked in the Garmin\GPX folder and the EVIL file was gone. By clearing the waypoints, it deleted the file

Moral of the story, my wife is right again, I'm not as smart as I think I am.

If anyone ever has the problem of the PC not recognizing the Nuvi, below are the instructions for doing so using the Pre-Boot Method.

1.Power OFF your Nuvi.
2. Press and keep holding the most right upper corner of the LCD screen
3. Power ON your Nuvi but DO NOT release your finger either from Power button nor from LCD screen (keep both pressed until the procedure ends)
4. You will notice Nuvi boots in Pre-Boot mode. Now quickly connect your USB cable. Prior to that make sure you have the latest Garmin USB drivers installed on your PC
5. If you managed to connect your USB to your Nuvi when it is still in pre-boot mode, you will see that Windows recognizes a new device - "Garmin GPS unit" and starts searching for drivers. Nuvi after a while turns the pre-boot mode off, but never mind, finish installing the windows drivers.

You should now be able to load your files.

In Summary

Well, This is perplexing. I had/have the GarminDevice.xml file in the Garmin folder. The gpx folder was not in the Garmin folder. The file gpx doesn't show a file extension, working with it I found out it was an xml file. But it was in the garmin folder. I had to remove the gpx file to create a gpx folder inside the Garmin folder.

As for the post formatting improperly, I reviewed it until I had it right....at least it comes up properly formatted in my comments box. Who knows I guess my laptop is squirrely.

I do hope it helps someone in the future. I haven't done much with a USB connection to the laptop except update software and maps. That all went smoothly.

I'd say to reproduce the problem copy & rename your GarminDevice.xml to gpx.xml (leave the GarminDevice.xml where it is) and put it in the Garmin folder. Move the gpx folder out of Garmin folder....folder. Everything may work properly as it did for me....

Now how it happened; well that's anyone's guess!

I am deleting the offending file so that it can't re-appear!

OK members - help me sort this out

My Garmin/GPX folder has 2 things in it, GarminExpressImport.gpx and a file I downloaded from the POI Factory downloads. No current.gpx file. I also did another search for the current.gpx file and nothing comes up. I'm going to continue on and go through the other replies and see if anything helps.

If I click on this file it opens a program that should be able to send and recieve .gpx files; but ti doesn't work either

Jeff n Julie Trnavsky wrote:

What we did not pick up on - and I should have seen it - was "GarminExpressImport.gpx", because I think this is key to understanding what may have happened.

Everyone will recall that Garmin Express has a bad reputation with a lot of people (even though some of our members have successfully used it). What this distrust of Express has led to is that we have not picked up on what appears to be the "backup and restore" feature of Express (and I admit I have not used the feature).

So, with no personal knowledge myself, I googled "GarminExpressImport.gpx" and found these references.

1. from http://forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php?t=27694

Quote:

If you use Garmin Express to backup your favorites (device > backup/restore), it creates a file on your device named GarminExpressImport.gpx (in the \GPX folder where current.gpx resides).

Does Garmin Express also create this file when it does an automatic backup? I don't know as I don't actually use this program except for doing a little testing of it.

Your favorites will be automatically reloaded from this file when you do a Hard Reset (aka Master Reset).

Thus, as Boyd and alanb said, if you want your favorites to be empty (except for the Garmin addresses the unit shipped with) after you do a Hard Reset, then you must delete any .gpx files in the \GPX folder except for current.gpx - before you do a hard reset.

REVIEW FOR GARMIN NÜVI 2597LMT GPS
November 30, 2013
Product Highlights: Accurate Directions, Display Screen, Easy to Use, Design, Image Quality, lane assist, voice command
I bought this to replace a nüvi 265W that died unexpectedly. Stuck with the Garmin brand because of reasonably satisfaction from previous product along with the ability to port all my saved Points of Interest (POIs) from the old machine.
Overall:
I've only had it about a week so I'm still getting used to it, but so far I'm really enjoying 2597; much better than the 265.
I rated sound quality because I had to, but I keep sound shut off unless I'm traveling somewhere I'm not familiar with. So I can't really comment on the sound quality at this point.
Pros:
- price was fairly reasonable for the feature-set
- screen is bigger than my old one and I like the improvements in the display graphics
- LOVE the lane-assist feature. For the routes I've driven so far I've known precisely where I was going, but I have had situations in the past -- and no doubt will again -- where this will be really helpful.
- Voice command works surprisingly well and is reasonably convenient
- Because I've had the device only a week, I can't speak to its ability to learn preferred routes (that's supposed to be a feature), but hopefully that will work well.
Cons:
- It's minor, but there are way fewer POI graphics than on the 265, and from what I can determine there is no way to add any new ones. In particular, a couple I used regularly aren't there at all any more.
- I had considerable difficulty getting my POIs from the online backup to the new device. I have an IT background so I'm not frightened of digging around in data files and doing some research. It took all of that to migrate everything over.
I'll outline what happened with the POIs and how I fixed it here in case it helps someone else (ymmv) ...
Short version:
Garmin Express placed a transfer file named GarminExpressImport.gpx in the GPX folder on the GPS. I renamed that to temp.gpx, restarted the GPS, and got my POIs back.
Long version:
- The Garmin Express online GPS management tool said it completed the transfer okay, but the POIs weren't showing up.
- When I looked at the data files on the GPS itself, there were two files in the GPX folder (where POIs are contained): Contacts.gpx, and GarminExpressImport.gpx
- The Contacts.gpx contained the three initial contacts they supply. The GarminExpressImport.gpx contained all my POIs from my online backup.
- The machine, when running, only "sees" the Contacts.gpx file; so how to get the files merged?
- Initially I tried deleting the original Contacts.gpx and renaming the GarminExpressImport.gpx to Contacts.gpx, but that didn't work. Some research reveals that the Contacts.gpx initializes itself with the contents of the GPS memory (some sort of flash RAM, I guess?), so the renamed file was being overwritten upon startup back to the original three contacts. That took a bit of figuring out and head-scratching, let me tell you!
- Apparently the system is supposed to pick up any extra .gpx file in the folder upon startup and merge it with internal POIs to create a new Contacts.gpx file. Obviously that wasn't happening.
- Finally I stumbled upon some forum reference that noted using the file-name: temp.gpx for the add-on file. So I tried renaming GarminExpressImport.gpx to temp.gpx and re-booted the GPS. That did the trick!

Error reading garminexpressimport.gpx file while starting BaseCamp or importing from.
I use Basecamp 4.2.2 for a Nuvi 2595. It worked at first a few sessions: create, edit WPs, routes, and send to or receive from device, though I did not feel as comfortable as with MapSource. After creating several routes with tens of waypoints in BC, I sent them to 2595 device by specifying to send the list containing routs only, hoping WPs were not sent together with routes. But the result was disappointing: all waypoints I used are still sent to device as they were in other lists under “my collection” The unwanted WPs make the saved list in 2595 too long for its 5” screen.

Trying to find a way to avoid WPs, I decided to delete all data under “my collection” and start a new BC session from scratch (I do make a backup by exporting data to a gpx file before deleting). This was a bad decision: after this, if the device was connected, BC started with a warning: “An error occurred while reading file gpx/garminexpressimport.gpx”. If no device connected, no warning at start, but at importing from device, the same warning came, see attached screenshot. The result was: no routes but only WPs imported from the device.
Later, I found, by using “send selection to device”, WPs can be avoided, but it was too late. I can restore a BC session by importing the exported gpx, but cannot avoid the warning at import. Now I can still use BC, send data to device, but cannot receive data from device anymore.
I wonder, what triggered this error? What can I do now?
I checked Garmin device in Windows Explorer, there are two copies of the file, one within GPX folder under root of the internal storage, one within Garmin/gpx subfolder. What does this file do? I do have Garmin Express installed on the PC, and run it for couple of times. But the time-tag of the trouble-making gpx file is not the time when I used Garmin Express.

One suggestion: it sounds strange to me that the file menu of BC lack save, save as …, and open function that is routine of file menu for any software. No save/open but only export/import, backup/restore means BC is very rigid in one fixed session.
Compare to MapSource, it can save, open a new session, open more instances of MapSource windows at the same time and open different saved gdb files.
It sounds strange to me also: isn’t easier to expand functions of a mature MapSource than to develop a totally new BaseCamp with so many uncertainties and user complaining? This is out of topic of course.

Thanks for help in advance.

Sadly, the culprit is indeed the file itself. We have contacted the Garmin Express team about this issue and we are hoping they will have a resolution soon. Sorry for the trouble, and thank you for your feedback

What we need to know now is whether Jeff has used Garmin Express.

I think

I think it is rather obvious from the forensic evidence of the file being present GE was used.

Good Heavens

My apologies!

As almost everything included was from another post, I wonder what went wrong with my post that caused the spillover?

Lengthy Strings?

John,
As I wrote before in y earlier post:

"One last point, your last post was difficult to read since it ran off the page. I see this occasionally on this site. It seems that whenever there is a lengthy string this site will not break it up and it runs off the page. In one of my posts on this thread it too ran off the page but I saw it on the preview.
I discovered the cause was a link I posted that had many characters. I removed the link, then the post displayed properly".

Some browsers break the strings up easier than others. Firefox wraps it, IE and Chrome do not.

Right muell9k was

I did not pay attention to muell9k's observation about Jeff's post of his "gpx.xlm" file.

What is interesting is that Jeff's post had line run-over of a few characters, where my "copy" of Jeff was really awful!

As the old song "Detour" said: I
"should have read that detour sign".

By the Way

I hope we find out where the file
"gpx.xml" came from.

There was no "current.gpx" file

There was a file named "gpx.xml" which should have had the name "GarminDevice.xml"

There was a file named "GarminExpressImport.gpx"

NOTE: Jeff says he has no idea how any of this happened.
Also, Jeff did not mention using Garmin Express and the fact that he originally posted wanting to get his favorites to his new device.

Since he had to make the changes necessary to see file extensions, I assumed that he was not the one that made the name changes (but I hope he will clarify later). That led me to believe that they got the 660 from someone else and had used it for a while and then decided they wanted a newer device.

Angela Thanks For Advising

I use IE but also have Firefox.
Next time I see a string run over I'll just use Firefox.

Seems to work in Firefox

I am trying it. I keep a "portable copy of Firefox on my desktop to use when I need to know what actions to take in other browsers.

Did the same copy and paste I used with Chrome.

Good to know.
