Icons for POI Files on Older Units

I have 2595LMT and a 255WT. My POI files with alerts work on both, but on the older 255WT, the icons marking the POIs do not show up unless I get the alert. Is there a way to make icons show on the map all the time form POI files?

Thanks in advance!

Older units

I don't know the newer units but on the older units, except for alerts, you will only see the icons if you zoom in to the 200 foot range. That is on the North Up or Track Up views. I don't ever use the 3D view to know what zoom level you are at but I'd bet if you keep hitting the (+) you will eventually see the icons.

Difference Between Older and New Units

I have a NUVI2555LMT and the icons show up regardless, but icons on my old 350 only show when they are chosen as a waypoint, or are part of a proximity alert.

You could put a proximity alert on all your POIs, but that will generate an alert whenever you get close. That could be annoying, so to avoid that, create a "silent" wav file using your cell phone recorder, etc. Load this as you would any other voice alert.

Personally, I have never tried it, but there's no reason why this should not work.

Bear is correct. On the 3 digit units the only way to get the icon to show at a distance is to create an alert. One trick you may want to attempt is to be certain each icon you want has a WAV file alert sound then create a TourGuide for those locations with a radius of 1 foot.
