Is there a Farmin unit that allows waypoint icons.

I'm using a 1490T. I have thousands of waypoints in many files. I like to distinguish between them by using the variety of icons available in Mapquest. I have not found a 5" screen with LMT Which allows that. Am I missing something? BTW, I'm ready to throw in the towel on the 1490.

Nope
The only symbols that can be used with waypoints are those supplied by Garmin. Now, if you use a POI as a waypoint, then you can have a custom icon and even an audio alert.
