hi
I created a gpx using EPL, with 2 text locations, and set a photograph and a alert .wav file for each location
I see that the pic is seen in the GPS, but the .wav file aint playing at the proximity setting.
Is this even possible ?
I do have the poi-factory POI's with the .wav files working, but thats 1 WAV file for every POI set..
Ghat
and..
I converted the gpx to gpi in POI-Loader, and uploaded it to the GPS...
check the extension
Check the extension for the WAV file.
How are you specifying the sound files as your description implies you want a different alert message for each point.

Double Extensions??
Many times, it is double extensions that create problems with TourGuides. Go through this FAQ to eliminate that possibility. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/30393
Also check to ensure that the names for the three files are the same except for the extensions - such as
IcreatedthisTourGuide.csv
IcreatedthisTourGuide.bmp
IcreatedthisTourGuide.wav
I dont think this is a
I dont think this is a double extention issue.
I hope you understand I have 1 .gpx file called
tourguide.gpx
while creating the .gpx file in EPL, I added 2 POI's and for each POI, I entered (besides the std stuff) proximity information,(different for each POI) and wav file, and a jpeg files. IN EPL, I can see the pic and the jpeg, as these are 'links' in terms of the gpx locally on the file system
(1X.gpx, 2X..wav,2X.jpg ==> 1X.gpi)
The BlackMagic is the POILoader, I dont know what it puts in the .gpi file it creates, but for it to function, it has to add both the .wav files, the .jpeg files, the different proximity information into the gpi file. I do see a thumbnail of the jpeg in the GPS after I load the gpi file, but I dont get any audio alert... I created the files in linux using AT&T TTS and ffmpeg
ffmpeg -i 6c05fa09fefe9340c34c6aef66ff7988.wav -ar 44100 alert1.wav
which makes it a 44.1KHz PCM mono file
MediaInfo output..
General
Complete name : alert1.wav
Format : Wave
File size : 127 KiB
Duration : 1s 469ms
Overall bit rate mode : Constant
Overall bit rate : 706 Kbps
Audio
ID : 0
Format : PCM
Format settings, Endianness : Little
Codec ID : 1

Bit rate : 705.6 Kbps
Channel(s) : 1 channel
Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz

I have verified that the file plays on linux, mac and windows.. I have created similar .wav files and am using them with the other POI's I downloaded from here, and they work just fine.. .

by EPL
By EPL can we assume you mean Extra POI Editor?
While I haven't done it, EPE does create a GPI file and this option is what you may have to use to get your TourGuide to work. The only user I know of that probably has experience at this hasn't been active in a few months. That was (or is) vestenjell(?) from Denmark. He did quite a bit of work on this with Turbo and was the driving force in getting circle lists and their use incorporated.
I do know the only way true TourGuides are available is as a compiled GPI file that's placed into the poi folder in the unit and not loaded using POI Loader.

Check the spelling. Its spelled wrong

Ghat
It needs to be spelled "TourGuide.gpx"

My gess is that pwohlrab found the issue.
TourGuide spelled with Upper T and G.
If not you got yourself an ordinary proximity alert , and if the poi is of the road you get no alert.
Since you are allready using wave files in other files that work ,I dont think it any wrong with them.
@Box Car: By the way "Vestenfjell" means in english
"Mountain in the west" , no offens to my good Danish neighbors in the south, but Denmark is flat as a pancake
glad 2 C U back

TourGuide File help?
I need a working GPX file to look at. I am trying to test with a 3 waypoint test xls to see what works and what doesn't. I can get various combinations working, but not all three. I want a different wav, bmp, and jpg for EACH of the three poi's in the file.
I am using Easy POI Editor version 5.32. I have SOX.exe version 14.0.1 loaded in the POILoader version 2.71 subdirectory.
I have tried letting EPE add the links to the files that match each of the POIs, meaning POI1 points to POI1.wav, POI1.JPG, and POI1.BMP. (3 pois, 9 links, three per poi). It seems only the first LINK works. I also point to the bmp by way of Symbol for each POI. I also, in the Preferences, point to the directory where the symbols are stored. All my linked files match the poi name exactly, except, each has TourGuide added to it. Maybe that is not necessary, I don't know. It would be nice to hear that the only place I need TourGuide is in the output gpi filename in POILoader.
Because jpg and bmp are both graphic files, I think Turbo was trying to overcome that by adding a Symbol to the M-CSV, and a pointer to where the symbols are stored in Preferences, to isolate that from the jpg. The resulting GPX has the name of the desired Symbol, but not the link to where it can be found.
If I could see a working gpx, I might be able to back into a working xls/csv to pass to EPE to generate my GPXs.
In EPE, if you have the WAV right, you see a green triangle next to the path on the edit screen, and a green triangle on the POI List screen. If you have the WAV or JPG right, you can hit Image at the bottom of the lower right box and it will be displayed in the lower right box (to get back to the map, hit map at the bottom of the upper right box). If EPE can't display the image, the word image will be greyed out.
It seems that you cannot get both an image (bmp or jpg) and a WAV triangle to display in EPE at the same time. Meaning the green triangle and the image. EPE takes the first link and will show the indicator for that one only.
It would be nice it we had an idication in EPE that we have all three right, before having to create the GPX and GPI and simulate driving it. But thats another matter.
I can open the GPX and look at it and all seem to be in the correct format. And they do point to the location/file.ext they should point to for each poi. They, meaing one for jpg, one for bmp, one for wav.
Any help would be appreciated.

All Three
I do have a TourGuideAledo.gpx file of the businesses in my little town. I used a TourGuideAledo.bmp in the same folder. In each location I have a unique jpg and a unique wav file. I created my file using EPE. When I select GOTO>CustomPOI>1stBank,I see a thumbnail and green triangle. When I tap the triangle, the wav plays. When I tap the thumbnail, the jpg fills the screen.
NOW:
I selected gpx file on my pc. I opened with EPE and selected 1stBank for editing. I had created a ATM icon using a blue color instead of green. Using the link feature, I pointed to the new icon. I saved the file. Then I used POI Loader to overwrite the gpi on my 295w.
I used the simulation mode to drive by the bank.
VOILA
As I approach the bank, the new ATM icon appears instead of the bmp file in the folder. Then at the proximity circle, the wave file plays and the alert shows on the screen.
Is this what you are trying to do? I have a bmp,jpg and a wav in the 1stBank location.
