Just need that and then someone to post the large .JCV file.

Good point

Good point. If it turns out that there is no large JCV file for this release, it'll take all the fun out of updating my Nuvi 1450.

I heard that I did, just got my first car with on board navigation and while I like not having to lug my portable unit around all the time the portable is more feature rich and user friendly.

Garmin Rep assured State Hwy

Garmin Rep assured State Hwy 71 in Missouri would show the change to Interstate 49.

I hope that is true since I heard rumors the speed limit will increase from 70 mph to 75 mph. Perhaps the speed notification on a Garmin will reflect the increase? Posted signs still read 70 mph. I am curious.

Since the update didn't happen today, probably next Wednesday (Feb. 6) is the earliest we can expect it. For some reason, Garmin seems to prefer Wednesday or Thursday for map releases (although 2012.40 was the exception, released on a Tuesday).

Map names make no sense.

It would be better if Garmin changed the names to actually reflect the release dates/order. This one should be named 2013.1 and not .4

@ D. F. Melaqueman

Before Garmin releases a map update to their customers they must first upload it to their servers and the link was provided to show exactly that.

Basically it means that it will be accessible for download in a short period of time.

It's not meant to go anywhere. It's only an indication that the files are present on the Garmin servers which has always forecast their release for public download within a week to 2 weeks.

Broken unit

Sadly, the unit I have lifetime updates for lost the sound. It's a 760 and has an audio out port. I think the connection in that jammed or broke. I can get audio via the audio out jack or the FM transmitter but no audio just straight from the unit. I actually opened up the unit to see if I could fix it but the place where the audio jack is located wasn't accessible to me.

I had a backup unit which functions properly but, of course, no lifetime map updates associated with that serial number. GAH!

I think I remember a posting here that stated one problem wasn't the connections, but the speaker itself that failed. SHARCNET may be able to shed more on the subject.

thrak, just checking since you mention the FM transmitter...

When the nuvi 7x0 FM transmitter is enabled, the internal nuvi speaker is disabled. Can you try disabling the FM transmitter, then checking to see if your internal nuvi speaker starts squawking again?

Been there, done that

Been there, done that. Appreciate the query but I've been using the 760 for a long time. It was the top of the line when I bought it. smile

The thing definitely has some physical issue.

Now that's an odd thing. I haven't checked the speaker to see if it's defective. It's not an item I would expect to fail as it's a pretty simple thing. I wonder how difficult it would be to check. Obviously I'd have to open the dang unit again but I can't remember just how the speaker is situated. Perhaps I'll go view the battery replacement video on youtube and see if the speaker is readily viewable in that. It may give me insight into where it's located and how it's situated.

Speaker Replacement

I've been searching online and can't find a source for a replacement speaker. There's a place that repairs GPS units that would, normally, charge $35 to replace the speaker. They don't sell parts. Their policy clearly states that they wouldn't consider repairing my unit because I have previously opened it myself (replaced the battery) and they won't touch a unit that the owner has previously opened as they've had too many people get a quote from them and then, when they receive the unit for repair, the person expects them to make the repair requested and also to fix whatever else the user has managed to break while the unit was open - all for the original cost estimate.

I don't think it would be hard to replace the speaker IF I could find a replacement.
