deleting custom pois

I have a Garmin 1300 and would like to delete the extras I previously loaded and start all over again. Some of my files have been updated, and some I no longer use. Can't seem to find instructions to do that. Can someone help?

In general...

If you use POI Loader without changing file names, etc., running POI Loader will overwrite all past POIs. A bit more info:

just use poi loader to load

just use poi loader to load the ones you still want, it removes all of them first when you run poi loader.

Clarification

The latest versions of POI Loader have (on the fourth screen) an option "Rmove all previously installed custom POIs from your device". This is the best way to start over.

Previous versions of POILoader would indeed overwrite the one file that it created (known as poi.gpi). The newer versions give the user the option of creating a unique POI file every time POI Loader is run.

I expect

I expect that deleting all the .gpi files in the POI folder would remove all the POI files as well.

We may need to distinguish between types of POI files.

What we have on our computer are POI files that are in .csv or .gpx format. They can be inspected using Notepad, for example. Think of these files as "inputs" to POI Loader.

What is on our GPS device are "output" files that result from POI Loader reading the data in .csv/.gpx files and converting it to information that the GPS can use to calculate routes. These are .gpi files.

If someone is putting .csv files on their GPS device, they are unnecessarily taking up space (unless it is on a SD card). Someone can have .gpx files on their device in the [device]:\Garmin\GPX folder in order to add to their Favorites; but otherwise .gpx files should typically be on the user's computer.

Remove POI's

I would suggest to remove any unwanted POI files using Windows Explorer.

Reason being, if you do not have the original POI's you loaded, then you can not reinstall the POI's you want to keep. Using POI loader once POI loader has removed them. Not everyone keeps all the files forever.

Just my thoughts.
