to not be announced when driving a route? I read on here somewhere that Basecamp has that ability. That would be great if it does, but I haven't been able to find a way to make it do so.
Thanks for your help.
Example, please

To answer your question fully, it would be helpful if you would give us an example of what you would like to hear (and/or perhaps see) on your device.
Changing properties
If you do a route using Base Camp you can change the properties of the shaping waypoints by right clicking on the waypoint and selecting the properties. One f the options is "shaping" which means don't alert.

Will most nuvi's recognize that setting after the route containing the waypoints or waypoints themselves are transferred from BaseCamp to the nuvi? I didn't think they would, but will have to do some testing to find out for sure.

It works on my 885. Did a route over Memorial Day that made use of this feature. I don't remember if the points were shown, but I do remember they were not announced.

Any Difference?
Maybe a dumb question, but is there a difference between a "waypoint" and a "via"?
AFAIK

It's just in the way you use them. Both terms refer to a single point.

Box Car,
Thanks for pointing the way via a single point post.
Thank You, Box Car

That answers my question. I hadn't heard the term "shaping" before. I've been using waypoints for years to control the path of a route, but I hadn't thought of it as "shaping" the route.
Thanks for the lesson.
A tip of the hat to you, BC

I had tried the new BaseCamp and gave up. I just gave it another try for a route to St. Louis with two shaping points. Nice
I now need to try saving my trip log. It is so easy using MapSource.

Only the Zumo series recognizes and uses the "Shaping Point" specification.
To all other units, they are the same.
have you tried this on other models

MM,
Have you tried this on other models or are you stating your past experience?
