The ROUTE keeps coming back!

I have a really weird problem with my 560LMT, not directly related to POI's, please bear with me. I'm really frustrated.

One particular route that I built, used, and discarded months ago, keeps coming back! I've deleted it multiple times, even done a complete reset, and it just keeps coming back.

It isn't in BaseCamp -- which I don't really like anyway.

Any ideas how to make this thing GO AWAY?

Have you

Have you checked the GPX folder on the Nuvi? If you have any other files in that folder other than one called Current.gpx this maybe your problem.

Depending on how you got your route on the Nuvi, your rogue route could be in a .gpx file stored in the GPX folder. Every time you boot the Nuvi it looks in that folder and takes the data found in all the stored GPX files and incorporates that information into the one Current.gpx file.

Once you delete/move all the gpx files, other than current.gpx, off the Nuvi, you will be able to delete the route and it should not reappear.

Not EVERY time?

The only thing is -- it doesn't come back EVERY time! In fact, it isn't present right now.

I'll reset the GPSr, due to "out of memory" error, and that's when it seems to come back, sometime in multiples -- the route might show up a dozen times, all with the same name! I'll delete them all, and then perhaps 6 weeks later it starts showing up again.

As for the .gpx folder -- there's on on my GPSr, and one on the Micro SDhc card. The on on the card is empty. The one on the GPSr has the following files:

3823663964.lpt dated 5/28/2011 (This file has a single 9-digit number in it.)
Current.gps dated 3/2/2012
Position.gpx dated 3/2/2012
Temp.gpx dated 2/24/2012
None of these has that route in it.

The archive folder has 1.gpx through 9.gpx, dated between 2/26/2012 and 3/1/2012. I delete these files perhaps once a month or so.

Do I understand correctly that I can delete ALL the files in the GPX directory, with no ill effects?

Thanks,
Earl

Yes, you can delete all the files in the GPX folder.

I would first go into Tools/Settings and clean out the Favorites of all locations not wanted and let the unit write a new current.gpx file. Copy this to the computer and then delete all the files. Copy back the saved copy of current.gpx as temp.gpx, cycle power to reload your favorites and then delete temp.gpx. Your unit should only have the locations you wanted saved.

Remember, Current.GPX is a COPY of the locations stored in protected memory.

Why copy back temp.gpx?

This is similar to the problems I had with Basecamp seeing deleted waypoints but I'm confused here. Why would you want to copy the current.gpx back in as temp.gpx? Won't the unit write a new current.gpx file based upon what's in protected memory? Why do we need the temp.gpx file to be copied back in? Can't I just leave the whole folder blank and then re-boot?

Thanks.
