POI Loader stops working(270)

I tried several times and each time the POI Loader stops, do anybody have any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong or is there a problem with the loader? garmin 2360LMT

check your files

I had the same problem today and there was a problem with one file I was trying to send to GPS, you may want to load one file at the time to isolate the trouble file, then find out what is wrong.

Reverted to earlier version

I've had problems with V270 and my Garmin 1390. The files shows up on the microSD card but isn't/wasn't recognized by the 1390. I uninstalled V270 and installed V253 and all appears well.

Version 270 names the file wrong

That version does not give the correct extension to the file. It names it as a .poi and not a .gpi

I use version 2.5.4. It seems to work fine, if not a little slow.

I use V2.70 on XP computer with no problems, it does name it with .gpi extension.
I always send the file to the computer and not the device, not sure if that makes a difference.

does anybody have an older than 261 poi loader I can use

I think this poi loader has a problem I took out anything that was not csv and tried again same result poi loader stops at about 37%. I also used poi loader 261 same results.

as others have stated

You have a bad file. Since you have segregated the GPX and CSV files and you know the problems remain with the GPX files, about 2/3 of your troubleshooting is done.

Look at the order and number of GPX files you are attempting to load. As POI Loader hangs @37% the problem file is about 1/3 through the list,

nothing wrong with V2.70

Like I mentioned yesterday, with version 2.70 and 2.61 if one file has a syntax problem the loader will stop at the file with the problem and will seem to me stuck at a % number, in earlier versions it loaded the good files and skipped the bad ones.

My V2.70 stopped yesterday @ 37% on the upload and I had to try one file at the time to isolate the problem file, actually I suspected which file it was based on changes I had done, once I knew which one was the problematic file just went directly to the changes I had made the previous day, tried it again and everything is loading now.

So what’s is it going to be, are you going back to an earlier version or are you going to fix the problem file? Your choice...

@flaco

For the record. The only issue with version 2.7.0 is the way it names the file depending on whether you send it to internal memory, computer, or a sd card.

If the loader is stopping at a certain %, then the issue is the file as you noted. I continue to use 2.7.0 and I just remind myself I have to change the extension from .poi to .gpi

You got it; I was referring to the content of the file and not the extension name.

When the OP wrote ” I tried several times and each time the POI Loader stops” I assumed it was the content in one or more files.

Ok we are on the same page because I was responding to Happyjack66 issue of the files not being seen by the nuvi.

not Fixed

crying It appears that my garmin can not load more than a million poi @ one time. I had to deleted some sites in order to dl the poi's I wanted. the ones I deleted were not site that I use regularly. Thanks you to all who tried to help. My new poi's are not in my gps or micro card, the old poi's are in the gps and the card is blank.

I am facinated by how you determined that you have over a million "custom" POI locations in the folder to which you point POILoader when you run it. I am assuming that you have done previous POILoader runs that gave you the completion message that you had loaded, say, 999,900 (or such) locations and then you downloaded a new POI file with enough locations to make the total greater than one million and then POILoader failed to work. Is that right?

One reason I ask is that the latest POILoader allows one to create user described names for custom POI files other than the fixed-name "poi.gpi" file that it used to always create.
