Nuvi 3490LMT (cannot eject)

I bought one, love it. There are two issues, I cannot eject the GPS (Windows see it but does not show the eject option), MapSource does not see it either. BaseCamp see it but I don't see an option in base camp to load or download from the unit.

Please help

What computer and Operating System

Tell us what computer (PC or Mac) and what operating system.

I assume you are talking about "Safely Remove hardware".

In your system tray (bottom right on most PCs), do you see an icon that has a green arrow over a little gray rectangle representing hardware? You may have to click something to show hidden icons.

I had same problem

In the map, touch the speed to get to the dashboard screen.
Touch the speedometer for a few seconds (about 5).
Scroll down to the MTP setting and select Mass Storage.

This worked for me.

Yes the "Safely Remove hardware" on a PC with Win 7. I am what you would and advance PC user, own a PC servicing business at one time and I am aware of the icon location which is there when other USB devices are plugged in the PC. I currently own several GPSs and I am very familiar with how they operate, I am just inquiring about if other Nuvi 3490 user have come across the same issues.

@RogerLL

Thanks for the reply.

Perhaps I misunderstood. I interpreted you to say that you could not click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon and have Windows respond with the "Safe To Remove Hardware" bubble message.

You can also get to it by touching and holding the top right corner in the master volume screen.

It worked

Thank you so much, it worked. I thought that my unit was defective. Where did you get this information?

Have a great day!

I knew there had to be an easier way. Thanks

I knew about touching the

I knew about touching the speedometer to get to the developer menu from my 3790 so I was just looking around when I found the MTP menu.

Thanks David

Congrats to you. Besides the POI files and the associated sounds and icons, it's answers like yours that make The Factory such a great place to visit routinely.

Just think of the time wasted by users of 3490s calling Tech Support with this question while on hold, etc. compared to reading this answer! Well done.
