Inverting Routes

Do the Nuvis invert routes?
I only see the manually reordering the waypoints.
Many other mapping systems have auto invert.

I built a fairly complicated route in a National Forest using Forest Service roads. Worked great.
On our return trip, pulled up the route and expected to just invert to find the way out. The only thing I could see was manually reorder the points.
Seems to me it ought to be easier than that.....

No they don't, but I have been wrong before and somebody will correct me. Which model do you have?

NUVI 855

I use the Nuvi 855 and enjoy it.
It just seems like it would be easy to incorporate invert route.

Inverting Routes

It doesn't do it automatic, you have to do it manually. I have an 855 also.

Route reversal.

Here is a method I have used for route reversal that works on most optimized "linear" routes containing multiple via points (routes that do not have not zig-zags, backtracks or loops). Go to Tools - Routes - select the desired route - Edit - Manually reorder points.

Move the original end point to the top of the list, just under the start position. Now move the original start point to the end. The result of this is that you have reversed the start and end points.

Press next and let it calculate and save. (Note that this will be a "nonsense" route. Don't worry, go on to the next step.)

Select the route again for edit. Select Optimally reorder points. Let it recalculate. Save and you should now have a reversed route.

Note that if any of your via points are on one-way roads or in a specific lane of a divided highway, you will need to manually adjust these points to be in the correct lane for the direction of travel. Otherwise, these directional vias will cause backtracking.

Point by Point

I ended up just routing point to point, one at a time. I had to check the map each time to be sure I was not headed into an area that I did not want to go.
