Android phone and Outlook calendar

This is a tangent topic from another forum on Android phones and GPS.

Does anyone know how to transfer the Outlook calendar to the Droid 2 without going through google. I may also want to transfer my contacts but right now I am just interested in the calendar. Thank you.

calandar sync

I sync my work calander with google by doing a file "save as" specifying the options and date rage desired. Then in google, go to settings and "import calander" . . . select the location/calander you saved and let it update. Takes just about a minute after you get used to the routine and is the esiest way I've found.

One of the big reasons I went with a LG Touch

One of the big reasons I went with a LG Touch last time was LG has an Outlook add on called "LG Outlook Sync".

When I plug my phone into the USB I can sync all the contacts and calendar info with Outlook and it goes both ways so anything added in Outlook or added on my phone is added to the other data base also.

.

I did a quick app search (www.androlib.com) and found a couple of paid apps which supposedly sync your outlook calendar without using google. One such app is VCOrganizer Pro.

Thank you.

I will check it out. It would be nice if Motorola did something to fix this.

I've used it

I bought VCOrganizer (about US$4.00) and while I haven't yet fully switched over to it, it seems as though it will do what you are looking for. I haven't had any trouble with it, and I do like its security features.

FWIW, I have a Droid Inedible. It's incredible.

I don't sync Outlook since I

I don't sync Outlook since I despise Outlook. But here's a good website with some info on the various options available: http://www.syncdroid.net/

Yeah, I've been trying to do the same thing. I'll check the solutions offered tomorrow and report back if it works.

Google Calendar Sync

I know you stated that you did not want to use Google Calendar, but I have found that Outlook and the program, Google Calendar Sync, work great together. GCS is a program that works in the background. What it does is that at given intervals (every 1 hour, 2 hours, etc, it syncs Outlook with your Google online calendar. Since I have my Droid sync'd to Google calendar, it is immediately sync'd as well.

So I can add an appointment in Outlook, and it will Sync to Google Calendar and my Phone. I can add an appointment on Google Calendar and it will sync to Outlook and my phone.

Very elegant solution without having to ever physically plug your phone to any computer.

Two direct sync

Outlook Calendar to Fliq Calendar: Missing Sync but this is an expensive flaky solution (unstable sync, not well written software, not syncing to native calendar)

Outlook Calendar to Native Calendar: Companion Link USB (expensive, did not try)

Everything else go through Google Calendar, which is actually good.

I give up

I think I will use Google calendar and sync with Outlook. It may even be a better setup b/c I can keep my personal stuff separate and off Outlook.

Is the program you mentioned, Google Calendar Sync on the Google website or is it another program I have to buy?

Google Calendar Sync is free. You can find it at:

Or just do a search for "Google Calendar Sync". Very easy to set-up and I think it will do everything you are looking for.

All set

Thanks. I used Google Calendar Sync and now have my outlook calendar synced with google and on my phone. It works better than I thought b/c I can input my personal dates on google and my business dates on outlook (my work email) and have both on the google calendar and on my phone.
