Red light camera warning on highway

Recently the Red Light camera warning have been going off and beeping while driving on the expressway. I'm getting warning for intersections while driving on the highway, this was not the case a few weeks back.
Has the proximity distance been changed on the red light camera file?

.

Have you been messing with your proximmity POI files?

no. I have always loaded

no. I have always loaded them with the POIEditor in Auto mode.

.

What I was aiming at was to ask if you'd been updating your files. If there are no new cameras in your travel areas then there's no need to be updating the custom red light POI files.

However nothing ought to have changed unless you have changed YOUR handling procedures. One question I might ask; Have you perhaps updated the underlying firmware in your navigator?

Try rolling back to an older version of your file to see if that cleas up the problem, then compare the content of the two files.

Intersections Close to Highway

Proximity alerts are given for POIs up to 50 feet off the highway. After allowing for some error in POI coordinates, this could be the only cause for the problem. In New York City, some depressed interstates have service roads above that have intersections with surface streets. The main road is within 50 feet of the intersections, and an alert is given. This is an annoyance that quickly passes.

Camera alert

There are a few intersections in NY with cameras, that are almost right on top of the highway, and even if you are not on the street the GPS will give an alert, as you are still within the alert area.

I got a redlight alert in ST

I got a redlight alert in ST Louis MO on the interstate.Checked on it later and most likely it was off on the side road or below me when going over the overpass.

Those are on I-70

Those are in the depressed section of I-55/70 under Walnut Street, and farther west on I-70 where it runs under Goodfellow. The first time I was alerted to those, I thought what's going on.

POI Loader in Auto Mode

POI Loader in auto mode gives an alert 1320 feet ahead. So any POI in a rectangle 50 feet off the highway and within 1320 feet ahead gives an alert.

1320 feet is okay in the country where intersections are far apart and speed limits are high, but for downtown Chicago I prefer to use POI Loader in manual with a 500 or 600 foot proximity distance. This will allow you to see exactly which intersection has a red light camera. This is especially useful in areas where cameras are close together.

This shortened proximity distance ahead will not affect the 50 feet off the highway that is always looked at.

Number in File Name Makes it a Speed Alert.

Make sure you didn't rename your Redlight.csv file and include a number in that name. That makes it a speed camera alert and could affect the proximity in which you get an alert.

Far More Than 50 feet

I get the red light camera alerts when driving on streets parallel to those that have the cameras. To reduce this I set the distance at 800 feet. I don't rename the file.

Too close to the interstate

Cruising the Long Island Distressway (I495) I get a few where the service road (Horace Harding Expressway) has cameras that are about 25 feet off the LIE roadway. I get used to ignoring them fast enough. Also there are a couple at intersections that pass below the roadway in Queens. They get ignored as well...

Thank You

false alerts

Another false alert is on the Cross Island Pkwy. at Jamaica Ave. It is much better with the address on the alert bar. At least you know whitch camera you are getting the warning for.

I get those occasionally

I get those warnings ocassionally on the I-15.

All The Time

I get warnings all the time on the freeway as a I pass over an intersection that has a camera. Nothing you can do but ignore the warning since the units can't tell if you are on surface street or on freeway above the camera.

That's a small problem! I

That's a small problem! I got so many rlc warnings on the highway intersections, but just ignore them. It's better to get warning in a long distance instead of in a short distance.

Thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for all the replies. The reason I brought this up is since I have been using the RLC file for the past year and this is the first time that I get alerts in locations that were not there in the past.

Don't see it while routing

I get similar false alerts if I have the GPS on but am not routing. If the unit is routing, I don't see the false alerts. It appears to only announce alerts along that route rather than within a zone when not routing.
